Chapter 439: Chapter 439 - I’ll devour you whole
TheBoss and the other four players panicked as the shadowy tendrils burst from the ground, wrapping around their legs and attacking them with relentless force.
"Cast the buff, cast the buff!" TheBoss yelled frantically.
"But, Bob! The damage from this shadow stuff is too high-my healing skills can't keep up!"
"We're gonna die, we're gonna die!" one of them screamed as they thrashed about, looking for a way out. But there was none-they were surrounded on all sides, trapped.
"Who are you?! Why are you attacking us?! We have no business with you!" TheBoss shouted at Broken.
Broken, sitting calmly atop his skeletal fire horse, replied in a deep voice, "I don't need a reason to torment you. It's just for fun-just like what you did to the villagers."
"Are you from the kingdom? Are you a player? Show your true identity if you have any guts! Stop hiding behind that stupid mask!" TheBoss spat.
The shadow tendrils swayed menacingly, coiling around the ground as if waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The five players huddled closer, trying to recover and prepare for the next attack.
"You think I'm scared of you? Go ahead, kill me! Hahaha, I'll just respawn, and I'll come back again. Hahaha!" TheBoss laughed loudly.
"Bob, are you sure about taunting him like that? Look at those beasts with him-a dragon, a massive cat, and that terrifying skeleton horse," one of the players whispered nervously.
"What are you afraid of? We're players-if we die, we'll just come back."
Broken's voice cut through the tense air. "I wonder how long you'll last under the torment I have in store for you."
"Do it! Kill us! We lose nothing!" TheBoss taunted.
Suddenly, the massive cat let out a deafening roar that shook the ground, forcing all the players to cover their ears in shock. In an instant, the enormous cat leaped into action, moving with incredible speed despite its size, circling them with an agility that left them stunned.
"Hold your defense! Don't let that thing attack!" one of them shouted, his voice trembling as the giant cat prowled around them like a predator toying with its prey.
The massive cat moved with terrifying speed, lunging at one of the players and sinking its massive jaws into him.
"Help! Help me... someone, please save me!" the man screamed, thrashing as the cat bit down harder.
"Stay in formation! Don't break ranks, or we're done for!" The Boss barked at the others.
The cat shook the player, tossing him to the ground before ripping at his legs with its powerful jaws. Blood splattered across the earth as Pawpaw continued the assault, biting into the man again before dragging him toward the cloaked figure on the skeletal horse.
Broken seized the player by the throat, lifting him effortlessly. The man, now bloodied and in agony, trembled as Broken's cold eyes stared into his.
"Please... spare my life. Don't kill me. I swear, I won't come back here again. I'm sorry... please..." the man begged.
[Ember Breath (Active Skill)]
Broken unleashed a torrent of flames directly at the man's head, the searing heat engulfing him as he screamed in agony.
"No, help! Someone-please don't kill me, please!" he begged, his voice breaking with fear.
But the other four players stood frozen, paralyzed by their own terror, unable to help their fallen comrade.
The Ember Breath skill lasted only 4 seconds, but it left deep burns on the man's face. He was still alive, barely clinging to his remaining health, but the scars were clear.
"Don't be afraid," TheBoss said, trying to sound calm. "If we die, we'll respawn at the Temple of Resurrection."
While players might drop their items upon death, it wasn't a guarantee. The bigger risk was losing experience points. But despite that, Broken had something far worse in mind. Death was fleeting, but the fear and torment he could inflict would linger-a lesson they wouldn't soon forget.
Among the five players, three of them-including The Boss-had once bullied Broken back in their high school days. It was something Broken had never forgotten, and now, the tables had turned. He planned to kill the other two quickly, but for those three? He intended to take his time, tormenting them the way they once bullied him.
Above them, the dragon floating ominously in the sky-it was Gaia's Elder Dragon Tree summon, but its appearance had been visually altered by Pawpaw's Vermilion Dusk. The creature's immense form hovered like a shadow-cloaked monster.
The dragon released a skill:
[Pollen Storm: Releases a cloud of pollen that heals allies over time and damages enemies caught within.]
A thick cloud of golden pollen descended from the dragon, swirling around the players. Confusion quickly spread among them as they noticed their Health gradually being restored.
"Why... Why are we being healed?"
Even the man in Broken's grip, still trembling and scarred from the earlier flames, felt his Health ticking back up, his wounds slowly knitting together.
Broken remained silent as he drew The Scorchslayer, his long sword blazing with fire. Without a word, he drove the blade into the player's chest. The man screamed, his Health plummeting --but just as quickly, Pollen Storm restored it.
Over and over, Broken repeated the act, each stab of the Scorchslayer causing the man to shriek in agony, only for his Health to recover. The fire of the sword seared his body, yet it wasn't enough to kill him outright.
The other players could do nothing but watch in horror as their friend's screams echoed through the forest. The dragon's pollen kept him alive just enough to prolong the torture.
Finally Broken gave one final, merciless stab. This time, there was no recovery. The player's body shattered into shards of pixels, disintegrating before their eyes. Silence followed, the only trace of him left being a single piece of armor that clattered to the ground.
The remaining four players stood frozen in terror. They could only watch in horror, powerless to do anything.
Broken dismounted from Blaze, his body wreathed in shadowy flames. The Scorchslayer in his hand burned with a fierce fire. As he approached, the glow of the sword reflected off the terrified faces of the remaining players.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Please... please... forgive us," one of the players whimpered, dropping to his knees in
desperation.
"Hei! You idiots! Why are you begging? Gill died quickly-it's not that bad!" TheBoss barked.
Ignoring TheBoss, Broken approached the player holding the staff. Without a word, he reached out and grabbed the player by the throat, lifting him off the ground effortlessly. The others backed away, but there was no escape-the shadows encircling them from all sides made sure of that. Trapped like prey in a cage, they could do nothing but watch.
Broken drove The Scorchslayer into the player's chest, the fiery blade piercing through him effortlessly.
The player's eyes widened in agony as he screamed, "No! Please... stop! Don't do this!"
Broken pulled the sword out, then plunged it in again. Over and over, he stabbed. The player thrashed, blood spilling across the ground in thick pools, but Pollen Storm cast by the dragon above continued to heal him, keeping him alive just enough to endure the torture.
"Please... stop it..." the player begged through tears.
Broken made one final, brutal strike, driving the blade deep into the player's heart. This time, the Pollen Storm couldn't save him. His body shattered into shards of light, leaving behind only silence and an item drop-a staff that clattered lifelessly to the ground.
Now, only three players remained-Broken's main targets for his revenge. He had promised himself this would be slow and agonizing, a punishment so severe they would never dare to
log into Immortal Legacy again.
"Hahaha, just kill us too, you sucker!" TheBoss sneered, but before he could finish, Broken delivered a swift kick to his head, sending him sprawling onto the ground.
TheBoss tumbled over, while the other two players huddled together, trembling in fear.
"Did you really think I'd let you die quickly?" Broken said he approached. He stomped down
on The Boss's head, grinding his face into the dirt.
"Stop it, stop it!" TheBoss screamed.
Without a word, Broken kicked him again, this time in the stomach, sending him rolling
across the ground. The two remaining players rushed over to help.
"Bob, I don't think he's letting us off easy," one of them whispered.
"Just endure it! It won't last long," TheBoss grunted.
"Are you serious, Bob? This is torture!"
Broken continued walking slowly toward them, his massive cat and the skeletal horse
following closely behind.
The cat let out a deep, earth-shaking roar, causing the ground to tremble. "You pitiful humans... I'll tear your bodies apart and devour you whole. Rawr!"
