Chapter 369: - Take them for Everything They’ve Got
Broken rode his Petal Charger out of the forest and onto the dry, flat land leading toward the demon town. In the distance, he noticed a caravan of carriages guarded by several demons, all heading in the same direction-toward the town.
But wait... Broken pulled out The Bow of Artemis from his Inventory, and the Hawk's Eye passive skill automatically activated. With this skill, he could see farther and more clearly. He recognized the demons-they were the same ones who had willingly given him the Legendary-grade sword. But this time, their numbers had increased.
In the caravan, at the rear, there was one particularly grand carriage pulled by a skeletal horse engulfed in flames. Damn! Why does that beast look so cool? Broken suddenly felt a strong urge to ride a horse like that.
Suddenly, Petal Charger stopped abruptly and reared up. What just happened? Then, without any warning, it started running again.
Oh, hey, could this Nature Beast be jealous because I was eyeing a new mount? Hahaha. Broken patted the horse's head. "You see, we need options for mounts, especially when I'm in my demon disguise. A fiery steed would match the armor I'm wearing perfectly."
But then again, isn't that what they call a Demon Beast? If he could secure a beast like that as a contract, it would make for an impressive new mount. Although he already had options- there was Polly, who not only served as a capable mount but was also formidable in combat. Still, the idea of riding a skeletal fire horse was intriguing.
Broken focused on the figure in the rear carriage and frowned slightly. The demon seemed to be the most important among the group, with a lizard-like head, but wearing a robe identical to his own. Could this demon be the real young master? And were they heading back to town to hunt him down after realizing they'd been duped? Lol.
Broken was still wearing the Obsidian Shroud, just as he had when he last encountered them, but now he also had the Eclipsed Visage to cover his face instead of the Mask of Scorched Fury he'd worn before. They might recognize his outfit, but without proof, there wasn't much they could do.
Petal Charger picked up speed, racing toward the caravan of carriages. As they drew closer, he glanced over at the young master demon's carriage as they passed by.
Petal Charger surged forward, leaving the caravan of carriages behind.
At the same time, the young master demon glanced out the window at Broken, who was riding that peculiar horse.
"What kind of foolish steed is that guy using? Ha ha!" he scoffed, then turned back to chat with another demon leader seated beside him in the carriage.
But suddenly, the person on that strange horse sped past their caravan at an impressive speed.
"What's he doing, overtaking us like that? Is he trying to show off?" the young master sneered.
"Young Master, should we teach that arrogant fool a lesson?" the demon leader suggested.
"Yes, stop him and make him suffer. He's really starting to irritate me," the young master ordered.
The demon leader then opened the carriage door and relayed the command to the guards following behind.
The demon guards quickly drew their bows, aiming skyward, and unleashed a barrage of arrows in rapid succession, all targeting Broken.
The arrows arced through the night sky, barely visible against the darkness, before raining down upon him. The attack came suddenly, catching Broken off guard. But his instincts kicked in just in time. Sensing the danger, he immediately activated every protective skill embedded within his Invincible Paragon Set.
Despite his swift reactions, the sheer force and number of arrows caused him to lose his balance, and he tumbled off Petal Charger. The steed vanished instantly, disappearing into thin air as the deadly rain of arrows continued to pour down.
"Damn!" Broken cursed under his breath. What the hell are they doing?
Quickly regaining his composure, he stood up and activated his healing skills to restore his health. As the last of the arrows hit the ground around him, his eyes narrowed at the sight of the caravan, now coming to a halt as it drew closer to him.
So, they really want to play this game, huh? Broken thought as he prepared himself for the confrontation ahead.
From the direction of the demon caravan, a figure emerged, clad in armor identical to that of the previous demon leader, but this was a different demon-clearly the leader of this group. But where had the earlier demon leader gone?
"I think you've picked a fight with the wrong person!" Broken snapped, anger surging through him.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Oh, look at this! A little insect dares to raise its voice in our presence?!" the demon leader mocked, sneering.
"Shut up and tell me what your problem is with me!" Broken demanded, his expression unreadable as he pulled the Bedrock Breaker Pickaxe from his Inventory.
"You overtook our caravan, and our young master didn't appreciate it," the demon leader continued coldly.
Broken nodded slightly, a thin smile playing on his lips. So they've really come here to find him and reclaim the Legendary-grade sword. But little did they know, the person they were searching for was standing right in front of them.
But he figured they wouldn't need to search any longer because Broken was now furious over their unprovoked attack on him.
"Now what?" Broken asked.
"Our young master wants to see you tortured to death," the demon leader declared coldly.
"Oh, you think that's easy? Then why don't you try?" Broken shot back.
The demon leader raised his hand, signaling the guards to proceed with the execution. Weapons drawn, the guards moved in to finish what they had started.
The demon leader's eyes fell on the pickaxe in Broken's grip. He sneered. "I wonder where a mere miner gets the courage to challenge us, huh? This isn't even worth our time. But for our young master's sake, I'll teach you how to show respect to those above you."
"That should be my line!" Broken retorted, gripping the pickaxe tighter.
Broken raised the pickaxe high above his head. Five demons charged toward him, swords gleaming. A sly smile crossed his face as he watched them close in.
[Rockfall Barrage (Active Skill)]
He activated the skill, and before the demons could react, dozens of magic circles materialized in the sky above. From these circles, massive boulders began to form, hurtling down toward the demons below.
[Summon Desert Worm (Active Skill)]
The ground rumbled violently, causing the charging demons to halt in their tracks. Panic flashed across their faces as they felt the tremors beneath them.
"What kind of ridiculous skill are you trying to pull?" the demon leader scoffed, unaware of
the impending doom.
The demons looked up, their eyes widening in terror as they saw the massive boulders
plummeting toward them.
"Watch out!" they shouted, panic taking over as they scrambled to escape.
But their horror had only just begun. The ground beneath them suddenly split open, and a massive sand worm, with thousands of razor-sharp teeth, erupted from the earth. Its gaping maw loomed over them, ready to devour everything in its path.
Broken lifted his arm to shield his eyes as the massive boulders crashed down, raining destruction upon the demons. The combination of the falling boulders and the monstrous sand worm's gaping maw tearing through the ground created utter chaos, leaving the demon forces in complete disarray.
He knew none of them had died from the attack, but the two massive attack skills had undoubtedly drained a significant portion of their health. Without wasting any time, he swapped out his gear, equipping the Flowing Tide Cape and summoning the Wavebreaker Spear. He was ready to unleash another barrage of skills, and this time, he'd call forth every summon in his arsenal.
After all, who knows what valuable items the young master might be carrying? Might as well rob them blind while he's at it!
