Chapter 70: The Golem's Wrath
The obsidian golem kneeled and touched the ground with its working arm, the golden halo and light around it burning even brighter.
Stark could feel the ground rumble as the golem prepared its ultimate attack, or maybe… it was already finished using it?
~BUMP, BUMP~
Rows of spiky rocks began to materialize around the golem, each one sharp and menacing.
But that wasn't all, thanks to the aura of the halo, two smaller golems also emerged from the ground right next to their 'father'.
They were smaller than it was, but still at least five times Stark's size.
…
[Name: Golem Minion (STRONG)]
[HP: 60000]
[Strength: 938]
[Stamina: 737]
[Speed: 201]
[Defense: 1226]
[Skills: Slam, Explode, Eye Beam…]
…
In comparison to the obsidian golem, their skin was mostly brown, made out of rocks from the canyon, but they also had one singular golden eye that looked at Stark.
"QUIT COPYING ME," he shouted at the elite monster, actually mad not only did it copy his spears, but also his clone ability, and it would have probably copied his crimson fists if he hadn't destroyed one of its arms.
The two minions charged at Stark, their bodies putting up a dust cloud as they approached.
One of them started slamming the ground with its fists, causing the earth to shake and sending pebbles flying everywhere, which Stark avoided easily.
"EYE BEAM!" The other adjusted its golden rocky eyes and then…
~FWISH~
Just as the skill described, a golden beam came out of it, aimed at Stark.
~BOOM~
Stark moved out of the way, but the area he was in before exploded, the beam seemed to be extremely powerful, and much like the halo of 'Feathered Scourge', it was following him extremely closely.
"EYE BEAM," the other golem recovered from smashing the ground and used the skill, this time aimed at the clone.
'…' but Stark realized something…
If this attack was similar to the Feathered Scourge's divine strike, then couldn't he do 'that'?
Stark grinned cockily at the sight of the two beams following them, and then…
'GO BEHIND THE OBSIDIAN GOLEM,' he ordered his clone, and it nodded before dashing at the elite monster.
The two beams followed Stark and his clone closely, only a strand of hair away from killing them both, but that was his plan all along.
The clone jumped behind the obsidian golem, avoiding a [Smash] from it.
And Stark did the same while sending a crimson fist to disrupt its vision.
"-4728!" another one of the golem's eyes shattered, with only one shining with that crimson light now.
And thus, now that the boys were behind the golem, and the minions' beams were still following them.
What had to happen happened.
Both beams collided with the obsidian golem's body, creating a deafening explosion.
Debris and dust flew in every direction, and the echoing sound of the blast continued to reverberate throughout the canyon.
The minions realizing what they had done immediately deactivated their attack, but it was already too late.
"-2718! -2179! -2894!"
When the dust settled…
[Obsidian Golem (ELITE) HP: 3716/175000]
The golem's entire body was full of crack, its final eye now flickering, as if it was fighting for dear life.
Its left arm was destroyed, crumbling to the ground, and its two legs were only one hit away from being destroyed too.
"…" Stark was behind the golem, and looking at its destroyed body brought a sense of satisfaction to him.
But it wasn't the end, after all it still had a bit of health.
The minions looked flustered, shaking their bodies in all directions and moving their arms as to gesture they didn't mean that.
'Let's get this over with,' Stark took a step forward and tried to punch the golem.
But…
"BALL TRANSFORMATION," it used its final skill, and its body suddenly became to change, its form shifting rapidly like a metamorphosis of stone and earth.
It went from a destroyed figure to a… giant rock ball with gold cracks around it…?
Spikes grew all over its surface, making it look like a gigantic, armored bowling ball.
Stark stopped his attack, not wanting to touch that thing.
'How are we supposed to… kill it?' he wondered, there seemed to be no way to hurt it by using physical attacks.
"CRIMSON SPEARS, AURA SMASH!" the clone sent all of it at the unmoving obsidian ball.
"-0! -0! -0! -0!" but it didn't receive any sort of damage.
It was truly… invincible…?
~FWISHHHHHHHH~
The spiky ball suddenly started spiking, sending debris toward Stark and the clone as they were behind.
"-1! -1! -1!"
This wasn't much damage, and it wouldn't be a problem in most cases, but…
"OH COME ON," the clone was hit and immediately deactivated, losing all its energy and the aura that created it seeping back onto Stark's body.
And then…
~BOOM~
The obsidian golem began rolling, but it wasn't aiming to attack Stark, not at all, as if it wanted to it would be going backward.
Instead…
~SWASH~
"-46269!" it hit one of the minions, sending it flying and falling back onto the ground, its body almost completely destroyed.
"-38273!" the other golem on the other hand wasn't as lucky, and its body was pierced by one of the spikes, "-57462!".
It died.
"Holy shit?" many of the classifiers on the other side were surprised,
~FWISH~
Lana sent an arrow, trying to help Stark by hitting the golem, but…
[You aren't allowed to do anything that is beyond the canyon]
The arrow was stopped by an invisible wall and fell in the canyon, hitting a random monster in the head and killing it.
'It can't stop… it's gonna head toward the canyon,' As Stark watched the enormous ball continue to roll relentlessly towards the canyon, a grin spread across his face.
But of course.
The obsidian golem's remaining arm came out of the back of the ball and dug itself into the ground, holding it just enough for the golem to turn in the other direction and make a complete 180, going back toward the other golem minion who was still recovering.
"-48271!" just as expected, the second minion died.
This was basically the mini-boss's revenge for the treason from its supposed minions.
And yet… it wasn't stopping, heading straight at Stark.
He hadn't expected it to do that, but right now, only a few meters ahead, was a giant spiky ball that would surely kill him.
"He's dead," Jack smiled, "Now, that's for sure, even I would struggle stopping that thing…"
"I think he should have avoided as soon as he saw it turn," Old Kai shrugged.
"No point, it would have followed," Vex retorted, he knew that thing was immense, and so dealing damage to it would be hard.
And so… all of them watched Stark be executed.
Or did he?
"DOUBLE ASSAULT," he clapped his hands then positioned himself in front of the ball.
Almost as if…
"HE WANTS TO STOP IT USING HIS STRENGTH?"
"He is insane!"
But no, he wasn't insane, it was just that it was his only way of surviving this as [Invincible Dodge]'s frames wouldn't be enough to completely faze through the golem.
It was all or nothing.
"COME AT ME, BALL," he got ready for the spiky impact.
After all… now that his domination skill was at level 10, it meant that double assault was much, much stronger than before…
