Chapter 68: The Obsidian Golem
As the Obsidian Golem let out an ominous battle cry, the crowd of onlookers knew that this would be no easy task for even the most skilled of classifiers among them.
A level 50 elite would seem like nothing against a level 100 classifier, but people shouldn't forget that monsters ALWAYS (in most cases) have more HP than the humans.
Their stats are also overall better and they hit harder than an average human of their level, and even beyond.
But this would honestly be nothing if it wasn't for the fact… the golem was an 'ELITE'.
Monsters are put into such categories for a reason, because of their increased strength and difficulty.
Of course, in the end, most of them would win that fight since they have better stats and dealt more damage, but…
"That boy is dead," Jack laughed, even after seeing Stark avoid the attack and smile, "Defeating a lv50 elite is IMPOSSIBLE for him!"
"Hm~" Old Kai scratched his small beard while petting his crow pet, "I do wonder…"
The golem kept looking down at Stark, its three crimson rock eyes staring at him, analyzing their prey.
Meanwhile, Stark activated [Perception] to look at the monster before him.
…
[Name: Obsidian Golem (ELITE MINI-BOSS)]
[Level: 50]
[HP: 175000]
[Strength: 1726]
[Stamina:1482]
[Speed: 435]
[Defense: 2471]
[Skills: Damage Wall, Obsidian Defense, Smash, Crimson Eyes Vision, Earth Shatter, The Golem's Wrath, Call of the Canyon, Ball Transformation…]
…
'First monster with over 2000 points in a specific stat,' Stark smiled, although he knew that this situation was difficult.
'How does he always end up in such situations,' Lana hit her forehead several times.
"What are you doing?" Stella, the exorcist of the 'Crimson Moon Squad', smiled while seeing Lana repeatedly slap her forehead while mumbling.
"O-Oh… nothing," the blonde-haired archer quickly acted as if nothing was wrong.
"Afraid your crush is gonna die?" Olivia, the alchemist, rubbed a cold potion right next to Lana's ears, it created a very pleasant sound.
"No," but instead of being flustered about what she had said like she would normally be, Lana had a stern expression on her face, "He won't die, I know it."
"…" all the 'Crimson Moon' members looked at Lana as she had become suddenly so serious, and they all shrugged, "Well, you never know, this is an elite, and you guys only started out your real lives as classifiers two weeks ago…"
But Lana just shook her head and smiled again, a hopeful one, then pointed her slender fingers at the other side of the canyon, where the golem and Stark were, "You'll see."
***
The Obsidian Golem, still examining Stark with its three crimson eyes, prepared to unleash its power on the human before it.
"SMASH!" the golem advanced, its steps resulting in the ground to shake because of its sheer weight.
But Stark was quick to respond, avoiding the giant black rock arm, and shielding his face from the debris of the attack.
Even while avoiding it, he could sense that thing was powerful.
He could take maybe… two…?
No.
He would die in one strike if it hit him directly.
"AURA SMASH," he immediately punched the air twice in the direction of the obsidian golem, sending two fists of aura at it.
~BOOM, BOOM~
"-8271! -7837!" it seemed like its defense did in fact make it a harder to kill opponent (who would have guessed).
[Enemy stunned!]
'Yes!' Stark almost got ready to dash and absolutely decimate the golem using his clones.
But…
[I mean, the golem is made of rocks, how do you even wanna stun it?]
This was all that appeared before him, and of course, the golem had in fact not received any status effect.
'Of course…'
So basically, this guy had high defense, high attack, powerful skills (enough to one shot him), and also the ability to ignore status effects since it couldn't affect him.
"…" all the classifiers on the other side of the canyon watched, and none of them was saying anything.
"EARTH SHATTER, DAMAGE WALL!" it summoned the four walls around Stark, which were yet again closing in on him, and at the same time lifted its giant rocky leg, there were some golden lines at the tip of it.
"CRIMSON SPEARS!" Stark wasted no time as he saw the walls and summoned his spears, thinking about a way to get out.
The goal wasn't to escape this attack as it was fairly easily, but to use the least amount of spears while doing so.
Using his quick thinking, one he refined after going through upon hundreds of death situations, Stark launched a single spear at the wall behind him, only pointing one of his fingers at it to make it move, not even bothering to turn.
~CRASH~
"-47281!"
The spear destroyed the wall, it seemed to be extremely weak and have no defense whatsoever.
Then Stark just took a few step backs, thus avoiding the other walls, which all crumbled after crashing against one another.
But of course, he wouldn't get any type of rest as the golem had charged a golden halo around the leg it had lifted, and as soon as Stark avoided its first attack…
~SLAM~
It swung its leg down, and as soon as it hit the ground… the golden halo that was surrounding it suddenly grew in size on the ground, taking up the entire 'space' they were fighting in.
The ground beneath Stark crumbled and shattered as the shockwave from the golem's attack rippled through the canyon. Stones and debris flew in all directions, creating a cloud of dust that obscured vision.
~THUMP, THUMP, THUMP~
Stark couldn't see anything, but he could still hear the sounds of the golem approaching him.
Restricting his vision made it so that all his other senses were sharpened, and the feeling of hearing it getting closer wasn't a pleasant one at all.
"Crimson Eyes Vision," the golem could see him perfectly, thanks to this skill, its eyes on its target since the beginning of the fight.
~THUMP~
It was right in front of Stark now.
"SMASH!" it swung its solid arm down at him again, but of course, Stark couldn't see, but he could hear, meaning he already knew that the golem was right in front of him.
~FWISH~
~CRASH~
He avoided the attack by stepping to his right, then sent his two crimson spears at the golem.
[Hint: aim for the golem's weakness!]
'I can only think of 'THAT' as a weakness,' he smiled, pointing his spears at the eyes of the golem, then shooting them while it was still picking its arm back up.
And just as expected.
"-12172! -13813!" the damage was very high for its defense, meaning that its eyes were indeed its weakness.
They would be very hard to reach under normal circumstances if you didn't have a long-ranged weapon or skill, but Stark could be happy he had those.
~FWISH~
Stark didn't waste time, and sent two crimson fists at the golem's obsidian head again.
"-14626! -13924!"
One of the golem's three eyes cracked after the two fists hit it, meaning that Stark was going in the right direction.
"SMASH!" but the golem took Stark by surprise again, its speed suddenly growing after one of its eyes was broken and somehow gaining the ability to swing down at incredible speed.
"AH SHIT…" Stark got ready for impact.
