Chapter 362: Royal Announcer
Chapter 362: Royal Announcer
Elliot's eyes were wide in shock. His lips formed a grin as he felt an odd feeling of passion burn in his heart. "Pentos had the Manual on their side. That was why they were so powerful. If I could just beat with it for much longer, I'll be the same as them."
"Yeah," Irus replied nonchalantly. "But now we have to discuss why you weren't immediately revived when you died at the hands of Polshck."
The smile on Elliot's face vanished, hearing the thing that happens to him. He sighed and nodded, "I tried casting the skill a lot of times, but all I could see was a gray Console. I still have about two resurrections left back then, but the Manual didn't allow me to use one."
"That's because the Manual is a piece of douche," Irus rolled his eyes. "It has a mind of its own and will enjoy its sweet time doing things even when it's a matter of life and death."
"I could agree more," Elliot snorted. "And the form I used? Was that your doing?"
Irus smirked, placing a finger on his lips, "No. That wasn't me."
The door from Elliot's room slammed open. Irus was covered with a black cloud and returned to his tall man form. Lance came in and knocked on the cube the two were inside of. When he got their attention, he yelled, "Emergency!"
Irus looked back at Elliot and saw that the boy had regained his composure. He wasn't as shocked anymore, making Irus smirk in amusement. The boy continued to amaze him, from the time he awoke when the time when Connor revealed his true self.
The Sin couldn't deny that he was helping the boy when chance allows it, aka when the Manual allows it. He would send small amounts of his powers to Elliot that the boy would use to defeat his enemies.
Irus deactivated the cube, making them able to hear Lance. "Hey, there's a problem with Gasha and her big mouth."
"What happened?" Elliot asked. Lance only seethed and walked out, leaving Elliot and Irus to follow him.
When they got downstairs, Gasha was sitting on the dining tables. She looked restless, as well as Zeus, and the others. When Gasha felt Irus's presence, she let out a low growl, but didn't spoke.
"What happened?" Elliot asked. "Is there something wrong?"
"Gasha just sent a mass hysteria attack in the city," Zeus said in disappointment. "She said that Lily turned to the other side out loud and someone had heard her."
"And what seems to he the problem?" Elliot asked. "Why didn't you asked for that someone to not spread the problem?"
"You can tell that before Gasha chased the poor boy away," Zeus scoffed. "She leaped in front of the boy, making him get more shocked and run away. She chased him all over the kingdom, making people see them look like idiots. The boy escapes in the end and now we're in a deep sh*t."
"What's so wrong with it anyway?" Elliot whispered to Lance. "What if Lilith betrayed us? So?"
"The people doesn't think like you do," Lance said. "Just wait until tomorrow. You'll see."
The town was in a state of panic the next day. The once crowded streets was now barren with people. You could only see one or two people walking by, making the entire city center filled with silence.
The stores were open, but there were no customers to serve. The vendors were talking amongst themselves, whispering to each other's ears with the rumors they heard.
Elliot and Connor went to the market to get lunch for the whole team, but they felt an unsettling feeling. Everyone in the stalls were looking at them with fierce gazes.
The ones looking at them didn't even try to turn away when Elliot returns their look. Instead, their eyes would glare even harder.
"I don't like this feeling," Connor whispered. "Is this what Miranda was talking about last night?"
"I think so," Elliot replied. "Let's just go to Ilwoon's store and head home. The atmosphere here is too suffocating."
"Hey Adventurers!" a man from the stall called out. Elliot and Connor turned around to face him, meeting an angry gaze from male fish vendor. "Why did you hide the fact that one of the Guardians have turned against us?"
"That information isn't for us to relay," Connor replied. "And not all Aventurers know about her betrayal, actually a lot of us don't. Among all the Adventurers, only a handful of people knew about what happened. We don't know how it got out."
"It was said that Lilith was the enemy, what do you think you'll gain by keeping this?" the male vendor said. "How can you assure us that this won't happen again? But I doubt it. Lilith is a Guardian. If someone as important like her would just betray us, whar does this smaller Adventurers can do?"
"Sir, the ones above is currently looking for a way to help us," Connor said. "We know this isn't a simple problem, but if it's problem, then we can fix it. There will always be a solution."
"And what about the leader of that cult then?" the vendor continued. "I heard he had a high position in the castle prior to his retirement. Then he built a cult that takes people in exchange for their souls. What can you say about that?"
Elliot was surprised that this man knew everything. It was a given that he knows about Lilith and her betrayal, but this man knows a lot more than just a rogue guardian. He was challenging the boys to lose their temper.
This man was annoying them by intentionally speaking loudly, so that everyone in the market could hear them. So that everyone would know the cataclysmic problems their kingdom is facing.
He was also tryint to give off a hostile vibe to set Elliot and Connor off. All it takes was for him to push them off the edge, so they would react badly and make it seem like he was in the right side of things.
"The national security should be left to the shoulders of the ones who actually do the job for," Elliot said finally, garnering everyone's attention.
What caught their eyes wasn't the voice his throat produced, or the content of his words. Their attention was hooked with Elliot's presence, his aura of intimidation yet calm and relaxed.
"Oh, so you're saying that you don't care?" the vendor asked. "Is that what you're saying?"
Elliot glared at the man but ignored him. He continued to talk to the people, turning to them and clearing his throat, "As I was saying. We must leave this to the ones in charge of dealing this problem. Yes, we're Adventurers too and we care about your safety, but then again, it is not our field."
Before the male vendor could utter another word, a carriage stopped in the middle of the square. All eyes were on the golden carriage as a man walked out from it and climbed to the top where a wooden platform was.
The man cleared his throat, but the sound was ten times louder than it should be. "Can you hear me all?"
It was the Royal Announcer.
