Chapter 345: The Blessing of Greed
Chapter 345: The Blessing of Greed
Lance's God Mode was obviously superior to the ones in his party. His fabric long coat was replaced with a black and white coat that parted in the middle. The white part was the right, where his Black sword was while the black part of the coat was on his left side where the White sword was.
His metal shoes were also replaced with a black and white boots that went up to his knees. His trousers were still the same black cotton pants, but white specks of lights would glitter in them randomly.
On the back of his coat was a large diamond shape that had black and white harlequin patterns in them. There were six thick lines with the opposite colors connecting from the diamond on Lance's back to the buttons of his coat in the front.
Perhaps the most distinct feature of the transformation was the floating crown on top of Lance. The color was a parted black and white and were placed where the colors of the swords were.
Lance's hair remained light brown, but it was now slicked back. In his hair sparked little glitters of both black and white fragments that smoothly following his movements like it was a silk dress.
"So, it is God Mode after all," Aviditio chuckled. She retreated her shield and grinned, peeling of a burnt layer of her skin like it was nothing. "I sensed a few just now, but then they were nothing compared to this"
Before she could even finish, Lance appeared in front of her. The boy brandished both his swords and swung them without any hesitation. His swords shot black and white slashes, cutting off both of the Sin's arms.
Aviditio yelled in pain. She hovered back and lifted the bottom part of her body that replaced her legs which was the closed flower pod. Thorny vines grew from her back that she used as stand as she targeted Lance with the flower pod.
"Greedy Blast!"
The flower pod opened instantly, creating a small orb of green light before shooting it in a form of a beam. Lance's face was stoic as the attack approached him. He opened his arms and let the attack consume him. This made Aviditio laughed with a victorious grin plastered on her face.
The grin was wiped off from her face not long after. The beam from her attack vanished when a colossal form of aura burst from Lance. The amount of the aura he was exuding made all the people in the stadium shake in fear.
Aviditio watched the boy retreat his sword on their scabards and walk closer to her. His face still held no expression, but soon tears began to ran down from his eyes.
"I already lost my best friend," Lance said. "And now, one of the father figures I admired since I was little has been killed. You killed him."
Aviditio retracted the vines from her back and stood properly. She was hovering above Lance due to her gigantic size, but it felt like she was beneath him. There was a feeling of sorrow, despair, and longing in his voice that hits deep.
"This is a war!" Aviditio yelled. "My brothers and sisters had been killed, and I'm not dramatizing over their deaths. Fight me and show your fallen comrades the justice you think your opponents deserve."
"W-What do you mean?" Lance stuttered, looking up to see that the Sin was already making a soft face. "Why did you suddenly give me a pep talk? We're enemies."
Aviditio sighed and covered herself with leaves. Her form shrunk and she hovered close to Lance while placing both her hands on the boy's shoulders. "Listen, kid. There's someone out there that's coming. He will he much stronger than any of us, and he will kill."
"What?" Lance tilted his head. "But you are the strongest beings on the ancient world. The ones that conquered the world before was the Sins. There's someone even stronger than you?"
"The strongest and most powerful Sin, yes," Aviditio said. "He will kill anyone who stands in his way of ruling the world alone. Even us, his comrades were betrayed by him. That is why you need to be stronger and kill me."
Lance was silent, trying to find the sincerity in Aviditio's eyes. When he found them there, he quirked his brow up and contorted his face in confusion.
Aviditio shook her head and hovered away. She suddenly spun and threw her hands out, shooting stakes made from rotten wood.
Lance saw the attack and brandished his sword. With swift slashes of his sword, he successfully blocked all the attack. He narrowed his eyes after seeing the parts of his sword that hit the stakes. The metal formed rusts and slowly rot, forming holes in his blades.
"Everything rots," Aviditio said. "I said you have to kill me to get stronger, but then I also have my own goal. If I get to kill you, I'll get stronger too."
Lance chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief, "And here I thought I was gonna get a free pass for this fight."
"Not likely," Aviditio chuckled. She slammed her palms together, making the ground shake and for giant thorny vines to grow from them. "Now I can finally let loose. Don't die on me, okay?"
Lance extended his arms out in front of him to cross them, making two X shapes with his swords and arms. With a deep breath, black and white wisps lit up from each of the swords. The soft light burned down to the swords and into his arms, coating it with a flame-like aura.
"I'll show you how I let loose too," Lance grinned. The flames reached his shoulder and formed shoulder plates. The light on his arm ran back to his wrist and formed thick cuffs there, connecting a chain from his wrist on to the handle of his swords. "How a Prince Handles His Weapon."
Lance looked up and threw his swords on the side. The chains from his swords extended to up to a few inches, and when it reached its limits, Lance pulled them back, waving his hands in the air and used his swords as flail. He was spinning them, dancing with the motion while closing the gap between him and the Sin.
This made Aviditio grin. She made the thorny vines reach Lance at a faster speed. When the vines reached the prince, his burning swords that were cutting through the rotten vines with ease. The soft slashes they made were like a sharp knife cutting through butter.
When the Sin conjured more vines to hunt the prince down, Lance danced faster and ther distance was closing. He smirked and leaped, pulling both his swords and holding them tightly on his hands.
"You are good," Aviditio smiled. She summoned more vines, but this time, she summoned them around her. She shot the vines directly towards Lance while the boy was in the air.
Lance's confidence didn't falter. He raised his swords above him and charged all the mana he could give.
"Reclaim!" Lance yelled. "Black and White Twilight Fall!"
The world's color became inverted once more. Everyone stopped for a monent as they watched the gathering of a powerful aura coming from Lance. There was a gigantic orb of mixed black and white light in front of him.
Slashing his sword to hit the orb, a beam spewed out of the orb. The beam burned past the vines and reached Aviditio in a matter of a blink of an eye. The impact was so powerful that it shook the floating stadium and made the stairs that led to the ground break.
'Congratulations! You have earned the Blessing of Greed.'
