Chapter 153: Arcane Points
Chapter 153: Arcane Points
It was the first day of their training. Elliot prepared his equipment, strapping his belt with his sword and putting on his metal boots to finally leave.
He saw potential with Viper and Florencia. The two are very different in their social classes but they have the same eagerness that made Elliot's interest pique. He saw himself in both of them, though in different ways, but he still saw a younger him in them.
Even when they only had a year of age gap.
As a royal, Florencia has more raw power than most people. Her bloodline of royals with large mana reserves allows her to excel among her peers. But the way she was raised, being neglected by the love of her parents, made her turn to devious plans and stirred her away from the right path.
Elliot's main job with her, since she already has the power and the level to become stronger, was to guide her into taking the right steps. Previously, she used unnecessary means to get what she wants like the Seductors. This was a red flag that she needs to be veered into a better direction in her life's path.
Viper on the other hand also has a great potential. He has the affinity of Curses, and with the Monolith Venom Skill Set, his odds to become strong would become even greater. Though, he still wasn't an Adventurer yet since his contract was still being processed.
He's also underaged, meaning he needed to have a consent signed by his guardian.
"So, it's your first day as a teacher, huh?" Lance said. He was leaning on the doorway, arms crossed and smirk etched on his face like a madman. "Don't teach them recklessness, okay? We know that's your specialty, but it'll be hard if tons more little Elliot would run around the battlefield without a plan."
"Stop teasing him," Ed huffed, walking inside and plopping himself on Elliot's bed. "Though it's kinda true, you should not teach them recklessness."
Elliot deadpanned, glaring at the two and feeling his nostrils flare. "You two, get out!"
He was in the middle of pushing the two out of his room when the black circle appeared, showing Florencia's name underneath.
"Hello, Florencia?" Elliot greeted but was answered with a disappointed sigh.
"It's the first day and you're going to teach us how to be tardy?" Florencia retorted. "I can't believe you're going to be our teacher."
"Even when you were the ones who asked me to do it?" Elliot was about to say but stopped himself.
"I am so sorry, but I will be right over there now," Elliot said and ended the call. He pushed the two out of his room and locked it. Leaping from the second floor aisle, Elliot landed on the guild's lower roof and he climbed his way up.
"So you're going to be an acrobat monkey now? Okay," Ed teased.
Hope and Connor ran out of their rooms, waving goodbye. "Good luck!"
With one last look at his friends, Elliot shrugged and jumped to another roof, hurrying to where his students were.
"It had been five minutes since I've been here, and four since this boy came," Florencia greeted Elliot with a scolding. She was crossing her arm, her long blonde hair bouncing as she tapped her foot on the ground.
"Hey, I'm here now, don't worry," Elliot ruffled her hair which she groaned at. "Oh, sorry."
The girl huffed and rolled her eyes. "I can't believe I even came here to be taught by you. But anyway, it's not like I have any other choice. I specialize in stealth and you seem like you're quite good at it. I needed your tricks."
"But I'm more of a swordsman than a stealth knight," Elliot tilted his head and pursed his lips. "You have tons of stealth knights in your castle, even ones who had already advanced to Assassins and Rogues. Why me?"
"B-Because I" Florencia's face lit up with a pink shade, embarrassment rushed over her body. "Whatever. I am not having this conversation with you anymore."
Elliot shook his head and chuckled, leaning in and ruffling Florencia's hair. "Your hair seems soft."
"That's because my bloodline is noble, stupid," Florencia turned and puffed her cheeks. "Well, whatever. Just teach us things so we'll be finished faster."
Elliot hummed, nodding in understanding. "Okay, so I've thought about this all night last night. It seems like what I need to teach you first is how to get better equipment. And since you both know where you can find the best blacksmith in the city, let's go there."
The two nodded and followed Elliot. The three of them were about the same height. Elliot was only a bit taller than Viper while Florencia was slightly shorter.
As they proceeded to walk, a large man with scars in his face and fur in his clothes stopped in front of them. His eyes were piercing red, and it wasn't in a good way.
"A barb?" Florencia whispered, stepping behind Elliot. "He looks scary."
"You three little kids seem to be lost," the man said with his deep husky voice. "Let me escort you back to your houses. Oh, and you seem to be playing dress up. Now, now, you need to be careful with weapons, okay?"
"I'm sorry, we have somewhere else to be," Elliot politely declined and steered away from the man's direction when he tried to grab his collar.
"You little b"
The shorter boy didn't hesitate to dodge the large arm that was coming towards him. He pushed it down and clutched it just so much that the man would feel the pain. His gaze found themselves into the man, his dark brown eyes flaming with an intent to kill.
"I said we don't have time for this," Elliot said with the deepest voice he could utter. "Now, shove yourself back into your hole and grow up."
The man's face paled, his knees weakened and he fell to the ground. His body was trembling in fear as he saw a dark red humanoid beast in front of him. It was like the beast was Elliot's shadow, hovering over him with a smirk in its lips.
"W-What are you?" the man stuttered, his lips trembling in fear. "Y-You're not human."
