Chapter 148: Sora's Illusion

Chapter 148: Sora's Illusion

Frederick raised his hands defensively, gritting hid teeth as he let his flames trail from his shoulders down to his palms.

"Flaming Barrage."

The flames formed a sphere right in front of his palms, firing them with a gush of raging flames towards Blithe.

The demon smirked, forming a fist with his right hand and covering himself with a dome of flames. His shield withstood Frederick's attack, a victorious grin etched his face as he saw the man slammed his harlequin jacket down.

"You hell folks are really tough, huh? Well, then, time to get serious," Frederick snickered and summoned flames throughout his body. "I'll smash you to pieces."

When Elliot was about to attack Sora head on, a gentle whistle sounded from beside him. He glanced at who it was and saw Luck crossing his arms.

"Petty kid. Can't even beat a chick," Luck said and whistled again.

'Hymn of Death'

The air around Sora started to form a vortex. The vortex got smaller and smller, the woman inside having a hard time to breahe from inside.

"And I thought you were all strong," Luck snorted. His lips started to purse, signalling he was about to whistle again when Sora pierced her spear through the vortex and blast herself right in front of Luck in a matter of seconds.

Luck had to brandish his sword and block the attack, his eyes widening as he continued to shield himself from the continuous thrusts of the woman.

"This b*tch is strong," Luck said with a wide grin. "Quick, agile, and powerful. Just a woman I would want."

Sora grinded her spear against Luck's sword, leaning closer and spitting on the man's face. She then kicked him and backed away, disgust showing in her face.

"I hate men in general, but the kind of men I hate the most is men like you," Sora said. She rotated her spear as a form on exhibition and bent her right knee in front of her. "It is my job to purge the Six Realms void of these types of men."

"Well, you're in luck," Luck pointed his sword at her. "I just happen to like women like you."

"Pity I have to kill you." Sora dashed forward, her already incredible speed seem to get slightly faster.

As she thrust her sword and Luck blocked it, he eyes remained fixated on Luck's. With every attack she deals, her eyes never leaves the man.

But the expression on them was only pure rage and anger.

"You seem to be a pretty decent chick," Luck said in the middle of their fight. "Why serve the Queen of Hell when you can be my queen and serve me?"

"Pig!" Sora yelled. "Hundred Thrusts of Illusion Hills!"

Sora used her right hand to hold the spear while raise the other in front of her. She brought her knees up to her waist and thrusted the spear continuously with one hand.

Seeing this, Luck laughed, blocking all the thrusts without breaking a sweat.

"I know a thing or two you can do with those hands," Luck smirked.

This brought more anger to Sora. She swung her sword to multiple directions, thrusting and slashing them all at once just so Luck would have a hard time keeping up.

"Woah, easy there wifey," Luck teased, now holding his sword with both his hands. Sora's attacks sped up and got stronger. How she was doing this was a mystery to them. "Hey, kid. Where are Lance and the others?"

"They're trapped under her spell," Elliot replied. He could only watch the two clash weapons, seeing how fast they were going at. He could use his Hasty Aspire so he could keep up but the time for the skill won't even last him enough so he could overpower Sora.

"Then, where are they being trapped at?" Luck backed away and looked around. "The dungeons or something?"

"She said they're in another dimension or something," Elliot replied. "She's probably lying seeing as I can still their presence."

"Oh, you can?" Luck chuckled. "Then where are they?"

Elliot shut his eyes, trying to figure out where the presence were. He turned around, looking for the direction of the faint aura of his friends.

"They're here, but they're not here," Sora said, looking down that the two boys couldn't see her face. "If they can figure out the clue I left behind, they'll break free. If not, then they will die."

"Now that's not nice," Luck tsked. He whistled a spell so air would surround his boots and make him float. "Tell us how to get them back so it's not your head that's going to be rolling in the ground."

Sora raised her head, the two boys gasping as they saw the blood streaming down her eyes. "You will never kill me."

"Elliot!" Connor yelled as they saw their friend faint. He touched Elliot's head and his world stopped when he felt nothing but coldness from his body. "E-Elliot? Wake up, Elliot."

"Connor, what's going on?" Lance walked over and placed hid hand on Elliot's neck. "What in the hell?"

"Why? What's happening?" Ed asked in panic. "He was just standing there and he suddenly fell unconscious."

"I can't feel a pulse," Lance said.

They placed Elliot's body on the hard wood of the hotspring's cottage. Lance was pumping his chest, Connor trying to cast booster skills on him.

After a few minuted of trying to revive Elliot, Lance fell to the floor with wide eyes.

"H-He's dead," Lance stuttered. He looked at Elliot's face, pale and lifeless.

"But everything was just right a few moments ago," Ed muttered. He ran his fingers on his hair and clutched them. "D-Did any of the Vassals cursed him when we were still in Solaguer?"

"There wasn't any Vassal who was capable of curses or something like that as far as I could remember," Connor said helplessly. "Elliot just died without showing any signs."

"But this is impossible," Lance said and stood. "This is not right. This was never part of anything. He was supposed to live. T-Then why?"

Ed turned to the spear that was in the corner. Connor saw Ed do this and also watched the spear.

Now, Connor could also feel a strong force that's pulling him towards the spear. It was owned by their enemy Sora and they brought it with them on vacation.

"W-Who decided to bring the spear with us again?" Connor asked. "Was it you, Lance?"

"But I thought you brought it with us?" Hope asked, tilting his head. "Didn't you say that it was a nice looking spear so you put it in the wagon on the way here?"

"I don't think I said that," Connor said with a shushed voice. "I would never bring that with us."

Ed raised his sword and got forward. "Then, why is it here?"

The spear started to shake, moving violently as if it was a person who was trembling. It got off the wall and moved slowly towards them, dragging the bottom without the blade.

It stopped in front of Ed, the boy stood in fear as the spear raised itself and pointed the tip right on his face.

'Break the spear.'

A female voice whispered inside Connor's head. He looked around but saw no one else but them inside the room. He ignrored the voice, thinking it was just his imagination when it spoke again.

'Connor, what are you doing? Break the spear!'

His eyes widened, realizing that it was Priestess Geneva that was talking. He didn't know how to respond so he just spoke out loud.

"What should I do?" Connor asked, looking around the room for Geneva.

'I'm watching from Inferno. You're inside one of the Vassal of Illusion's trance. The spear is the way out. Break it, so you can get out.'

"You mean we're stuck in an illusion?" Connor asked. "How did you even know where we are?"

'I never left my watch on you. I am still watching through the Cauldron of Eternal Flames to which your soul is connected to.'

"Even when I'm taking a bath?!" Connor couldn't help but gasp. "P-Priestess"

'What are you talking about? Of course not!'

Connor found himself smiling after hearing the priestess's voice. He had to confess that he missed the priestess, and planned to visit Inferno soon.

But now, Connor has to face the problem in front of him.

"N-Nullify!" Ed try to cast but the spear flipped away, before the spell could even reach it. "So, it's scared of nullification?"

"Connor, who were you talking to?" Lance asked. "And what illusion are you talking about?"

"Remember the large magic circle from Sora?" Connor asked. "That was the spell she used to cast this illusion upon us. And we're stuck here unless that spear is broken."

"And what about Elliot's death?" Hope asked, still holding Elliot's body.

"The Priestess told me that he had already returned to the real world. Somehow, he was transported back," Connor replied. "The defeat of that spear is our ticket to get back to the real world."

'One more thing, Connor.'

Connor stopped and listened to Geneva, "What is it?"

'There was another force that tried to come to Solaguer. But it suddenly stopped and backed away.'

"What do you mean?" Connor asked. "Another Vassal?"

'No. It was an Angel.'
