Chapter 145 Great grandfather
Chapter 145 Great grandfather
"Boss, what should we do?" Gu Wei was looking a bit anxious but Yu Chen simply glanced at him and then casually returned his gaze onto the documents in his hand.
"Go welcome him." He said and Gu Wei blinked.
"Er, boss... how about Little Ran and Little Rui? I mean is it okay if the old master sees them?" Gu Wei said cautiously and Yu Chen finally lifted his face and looked at him.
"What’s the problem with him seeing my sons?" Yu Chen said. His tone was calm but his eyes were serious causing Gu Wei to immediately shook his head.
"There’s no problem at all boss. I’ll go wait for him now."
When Gu Wei was gone, the little buns shifted their curious gazes towards Yu Chen. Little Rui climb on the bed and sat beside him.
"Daddy, who is old master?" he asked, blinking at him with those big round eyes.
"Your great grandfather." Yu Chen replied and upon hearing him, Little Rui gasped.
"G-great grandfather?" The boy suddenly looked worried, causing Yu Chen’s brows to crease.
"What’s wrong? You don’t like to meet him?"
"B-but great grandfather is bad. He doesn’t like me and Ranran." The boy looked sad as he spoke and Yu Chen finally realized that the boy was thinking that the grandfather he was talking about was Luo Feng.
Ruffling Little Rui’s hair, Yu Chen said, "It’s not Mr. Luo. This great grandfather is good so don’t worry."
"It’s not mommy’s grandpa?!"
"Mm. It’s not him."
"It’s daddy’s grandpa?!"
"That’s right."
"Whoah! Ranran! We have another great grandpa! I’m very excited to meet him!" the boy excitedly exclaimed and Yu Chen smiled.
After a few minutes, they heard a knock on the door.
When the door opened, an elegant looking old man entered. His eyes filled with worry the moment he saw his dearest grandchild, his only kin, sitting on the bed.
"Xiao Chen my grandson..." the old man immediately walked towards him as he spoke but he was halted by the sight of two little buns standing right next to his grandson.
The old man’s forehead creased in curiosity while the boys walked closer to him.
"Hello great grandpa." Little Rui greeted and the two bowed before him, showing him their respect. The old man was shocked.
’G-g-great grandpa?!’
Speechless, Yu Zhaohui looked at his grandson. His eyes filled with questions.
"Grandpa, meet my sons." Yu Chen simply said and the old man almost had a heart attack.
Yu Zhaohui was so shocked he wobbled. Gladly, the little buns were quick and they held his hands.
"Great grandpa, are you okay?" Little Rui asked, worried, as they led him towards the couch.
Upon seating, the old man took a deep breath and glared at his grandson.
"You... how could you... are you trying to be funny? After making me worry these past six dday, now you are trying to welcome me with a prank? Where did even stole these k –"
Yu Zhaohui couldn’t continue speaking the instant he turned to the boy who just spoke to him. The old man finally saw the boy’s face and his mouth turned agape.
"Great grandpa, my name is Rui." The boy introduced himself with a bright smile and then he pulled his younger brother close to him. "And this is my twin brother, Ranran."
The old man remained speechless. His eyes darting back and forth between Little Ran and Little Rui. There was wonder and disbelief in his eyes as he looked at them.
"Grandpa, don’t just stare at them like that." Yu Chen’s voice somehow made the old man snap and his expression suddenly turned extremely warm. Even the worry in his eyes evaporated into nothing as if he already forgot that his grandson was still in a bad shape.
"Oh, this old man is so pleased to see you both." Yu Zhaohui smiled. His face turned relaxed and warm as he reached out his hand to touch them.
"Great grandpa, can we hug you?" Little Rui sweetly asked and the old man’s face turned even brighter.
"Of course, of course." He agreed and then he hugged them both. The old man was shocked the moment he saw them because the boys resembled the young Yu Chen and his older brother way too much that they could even be called as their carbon copies.
Just by looking at them, the old man felt some unknown connection to them and his heart was suddenly filled with watmth. Despite the huge doubt if this was even real or if this even makes sense, here he was, already accepting them without even asking about the details.
The old man was so happy that he didn’t even look at Yu Chen anymore until his grandson’s voice echoed inside the room.
"Grandpa, let the boys sleep now. The night is already deep." He reminded and although the old man still obviously couldn’t get enough of the twins, he asked the twins to go to bed.
When the twins finally fell asleep, Yu Zhaohui immediately started interrogating his grandson.
"Tell me, where does this two came from? Through a surrogate?" the old man asked, his face was grave. That was the only thing he could think about even though this too was quite near impossible. The kids are now six years old. If it’s six years ago, this grandson of his was a devil in hell. That year was the bloodiest year of their lives. And he couldn’t even make himself believe that this person, this own grandson of his did something like this during those darkest times.
"They’re me and my fiancée’s adopted sons."
Upon hearing the casual answer of Yu Chen, the old man’s shoulders dropped. He was right, it’s just impossible for this grandson of his.
However, there’s no way this could settle him down.
"Who’s their real parents?"
"Why are you interested?"
"Sigh... stop acting like you don’t have any idea. These boys, I know you know how they resembled you and your brother’s. They’re eyes, they’re features are exactly the same. Now tell me, who’s their real parents?"
"I don’t know."
Yu Zhaohui was speechless. He didn’t know?
"What do you mean you don’t know? You didn’t even investigate?"
"I will ask my fiancée about them once she’s home."
". . ." The old man sighed in disbelief. "Forget it, I’ll borrow them tomorrow, I want to do some DNA test."
The old man’s words displeased Yu Chen. His face turned a bit dark as he looked at his grandfather. "No, you can’t take them."
"I’ll just borrow them, okay? And if they’re not here, you can solo your fiancée. I’m just offering a hand to help babysit them."
"You can’t take them away without my fiancée’s consent. You can’t do any test on them either without her consent."
"Okay, I will to talk to her. Where is she? I still want to meet her. I’ve been asking you for god knows how many times to introduce her to me but you never listen."
"Grandpa, let this go for now. Don’t do anything and leave this to me. Please."
Yu Zhaohui was at a loss for words. When did the last time he heard this grandson of his said the word ’please’? He couldn’t even remember.
Looking at him, the old man could only surrender. He knew that there was no room for any argument when this man was speaking like this.
"Okay, I won’t do anything. But at least let me borrow them. Also, let me meet her. Where is she?"
"She’s not home yet. Please go back for now. I’m sorry but we have an extremely important session once she arrives."
