Chapter 924 A Lich’s Laboratory (Part 2)
[No, there's still a chance.]
"I'm listening." Ying became serious as he focused, hearing the voice of the Orc-Dragon Soul resound in his mind.
[The Bone Dragon is too strong to enter this dimension yet. So, it's struggling to come out. As for the Lich, despite its power, its weak in one-on-one combat. So, without the Bone Dragon as its guard, it wouldn't come out either. The three S-Rank Hunter skeletons too form the core unit of its defence. So, without them, the remaining monsters are somewhat tolerable to kill.]
"But…" Ying frowned, "How do I stop the Bone Dragon from coming out?"
He just began to speak when he paused, observing that the crack seemed to be pushing against the Bone Dragon, "I see, so it will close on its own. Then that means…"
He didn't bother asking for any suggestions from the Orc-Dragon Soul after that, focusing as he recalled from his experience, "There is the C-Rank Dungeon full of Lizardmen two kilometres away."
Skill—Orc-Dragon Soar!
Mana burst out of his body as Ying took flight and glided through the air, making a beeline towards a Dungeon nearby as he stared at the desolate place surrounding the portal there.
Originally, the Hunter Association Staff should have been stationed here to monitor the Dungeon. But once the A-Rank Dungeon collapsed, everyone vacated in a hurry, which also gave him a precious chance now.
"If the situation continues as is, it is only a matter of time before the other Dungeons in this region collapse and cause the monsters within to flood out. At that point, they would only serve to further increase the Lich's strength." He muttered, "So instead, they can work on becoming my strength instead."
He arrived before the Dungeon and took in a deep breath before pulling out dozens of mana recovery potions from his inventory that he tossed through the portal, sensing the mana levels within the Dungeon climb steadily in response.
Skill—Orc-Dragon Sense!
For a Hunter, they would need to spend some time circulating their mana to absorb the mana within a mana recovery potion. But on the other hand, a Dungeon was like a living organism. So, the moment the potion shattered within it, the mana from it was absorbed by the Dungeon, causing its mana levels to increase.
Ying didn't even hesitate as he dumped pretty much all the mana recovery potions he had purchased, expending all the wealth he had accumulated, observing the mana within the C-Rank Dungeon reach a certain level before which it began to crack.
A Dungeon was like a container of mana. If the mana levels exceed a certain extent, it would collapse and cause the monsters within to flood out, a phenomenon known as Dungeon Break.
Boom!
The portal turned red before shattering as murky water gushed out like a torrent and flooded the region.
Awoo! Aieee! Kaaah!
Lizardmen began to march out in droves as the environment within the Dungeon began to overlap with reality as the marshland, the Lizardmen's terrain fused with the cityscape to create a mutated home for them.
As it was a C-Rank Dungeon, it collapsed pretty quickly and caused everything within it to spill out, unlike the S-Rank Dungeon which was still in the process of a collapse.
The mana levels within it were too high that the world itself was resisting such a heavy influx. It had to be noted that the Hunter System and the Dungeon Monster System were in this together. So, they wouldn't do anything that didn't give them benefit.
So, in the likelihood of a wave, the Hunter System would have prepared at least a protagonist-level Hunter to be available at the location, who would then use this scenario as fuel to grow. But, that wasn't the case here.
So for a moment, the attention of both entities fell on this location as through the eyes of the dungeon monsters and the Hunters, they observed Ying's actions. They were confused for a moment, but in the end, just maintained their passiveness.
They planned to observe how this situation unfolded.
What they were unaware of was the fact that the Secondary System was behind this Dungeon Break, having orchestrated everything so naturally that even the Hunter System and the Dungeon Monster System, two high-level Grade 2 Systems were unable to notice anything amiss.
Upon seeing the chaos in the Astral Network over Arnark's completion as the Main Character System, the Secondary System was alarmed. Hence, it wished to turn Ying fully into CC as quickly as possible. That was all it cared about now.
After all, it now had the means to do anything it wished.
Grade 1 System—Secondary (Level 99)!
When it received Zaira's support, the Secondary System could finally shed a life of unending struggles behind it and finally act like a powerhouse among Systems. Zaira had been planning to create a System in the Protagonist Genre from ages ago. So, she had Mental Energy stored in her reserves that were suitable for the Secondary System to consume and level up.
It was because of this that the Secondary System had enough foundation to create such a large mess, all to accelerate Ying's growth and fusion with the 'Soul: 20CC.'
Skill—Orc-Dragon Soar!
Ying took flight as he observed the ground transform into a marshland immediately. And just as he predicted, the marshland expanded to almost reach the area where the skeletons were.
Boom!
He flew towards the S-Rank Dungeon's crack as he flailed his longsword, activating another of his Skill.
Skill—Orc-Dragon Claw!
His longsword shone with a dense layer of mana that he slashed forth, causing three streams to blast forth that slammed into the bonehead of the Bone Dragon, causing it to flinch in response. It was unharmed, but the impact was strong enough to push it back a little.
Immediately in response, the crack took the chance and closed a bit more. Upon seeing that his plan was working, Ying grunted, "One more!"
Skill—Orc-Dragon Slash!
Roar!
The Bone Dragon roared in response as it was pushed in further. Upon seeing what was happening, the eyes of the Lich shone red when immediately, a couple of the A-Rank Hunters among the skeletons took flight and rushed at Ying, unleashing attacks at him.
"Dammit!" Now hindered, Ying was unable to attack, watching the crack widen once again.
