C29 – Panicked
“Alright!” The Scorpion wasn’t angered by Qi Ning’s interruption. On the contrary, he looked at Qi Ning with excitement, like a bull in heat.
Qi Ning had already assumed a defensive stance, sensing the formidable power of his opponent. A sense of crisis steadily mounted in his mind.
With an angry roar, the Scorpion charged at Qi Ning.
In a flash, the Scorpion closed the distance. Upon reaching Qi Ning, he swung his fist without a moment’s hesitation, aiming for Qi Ning’s face.
Instinctively, Qi Ning raised his arm to block.
The Scorpion’s fist hammered into Qi Ning’s arm, the severe pain forcing Qi Ning to take a sharp breath.
To the Scorpion’s astonishment, an ordinary person’s arm would never withstand his punch. Yet Qi Ning, who appeared so slender and frail, had just absorbed the blow. The surprise was undeniable.
Qi Ning had blocked the Scorpion’s punch with his right hand, but his left hand was already in motion. He swiftly threw a left hook at the Scorpion’s face.
The punch was both rapid and powerful.
The Scorpion, acting on instinct, raised his arm to defend himself.
After the blow, the Scorpion yelped in pain and staggered back several steps.
Staring at the red mark Qi Ning had left on his arm, the Scorpion was thoroughly shaken.
He hadn’t anticipated that the unassuming youth before him could pack such a powerful punch.
Meanwhile, Pei Liang was gripped by a foreboding feeling.
Without a second thought, he sprinted toward the private room’s door, intent on seeking assistance.
He knew full well the Scorpion’s combat prowess; ten average adults couldn’t come close to matching him. Yet this formidable fighter had just been repelled by Qi Ning’s single punch.
Qi Ning saw Pei Liang’s move and wanted to intervene.
But the Scorpion was charging at him again, leaving Qi Ning no choice but to watch Pei Liang escape the room.
Pei Liang didn’t pause upon exiting; he bolted straight for the stairs.
Driven by fear, his speed was astonishingly fast. In under a minute, he had reached the entrance to Xu Linshan’s private room.
Upon entering the room, Pei Liang quickly outlined the situation, causing Xu Linshan’s face to turn pale with shock.
The Scorpion was his top enforcer.
If even the Scorpion couldn’t handle Qi Ning, Xu Linshan was at a loss as to who could.
Cowering in the corner, Fu Nian began to shake involuntarily upon hearing Pei Liang’s words.
He had never imagined the situation escalating to this level.
He was aware of Qi Ning’s strength but had not anticipated him being overwhelmingly powerful.
Xu Linshan remained in place, deep in thought, before declaring, “Gather all our members. I refuse to believe he can fight his way to my room today!”
Pei Liang nodded in agreement and dialed a number.
Minutes later, Xu Linshan’s room was crowded with his crew.
With a few succinct commands from Xu Linshan, they filed out and took up positions by the door.
Xu Linshan’s ranks were numerous, filling nearly the entire third floor, most of them armed with steel pipes, while a few lieutenants wielded machetes.
Meanwhile, Pei Liang was not on the third floor but had stealthily made his way to the first floor. He positioned himself close to Room 888, eavesdropping on the events unfolding inside.
