Chapter 156: Cyan Celestial Luan
Chapter 156: Cyan Celestial Luan
Chapter 165: Cyan Celestial Luan
Xu Disheng was riding on the Yin Yang Diagram, but when he saw Green Creek Peak in the distance, he couldn’t stop his expression from turning somewhat strange.
The entire Peak was conspicuously covered in a uniform shade of green, sticking out from the surrounding few Peaks like a sore thumb. There were also no cities at the foot of the mountain, and there weren’t many disciples traversing to and from it.
After glancing around at the flourishing cities around the base of each Peak, Xu Disheng shook his head and continued on his way towards Green Creek Peak.
When he was a few kilometers away, he suddenly heard a massive explosion sound ring out in the sky, shaking a dozen or so of the nearby Peaks.
The countless citizens in the cities below lifted their heads and looked skywards. Even the disciples that were passing by were startled by the noise and looked over.
A gigantic Cyan Celestial Luan was falling from the sky, its wings hanging powerlessly at its side. A green light flashed and in the next moment, it had transformed back into an extremely beautiful woman in a green robe. She struggled to lift her arm and summoned a cloud, which she used to slow her descent.
(TL: : a legendary bird from Chinese mythology, often mistaken for a phoenix or roc.)
“Slut!” A deafeningly loud roar echoed out. A handsome, black-robed flew on a seven-colored sword light appeared. A blazing orb of profound light materialized in his palm, which he launched ruthlessly towards the green-robed woman.
“So it’s Senior Martial Brother Chen.”
When all of the disciples saw the seven-colored sword light and realized who it was, they all lowered their gazes and no longer looked at the green-robed woman.
“Looks like Senior Martial Brother Chen Junsheng is teaching one of his maids a lesson again.”
Many disciples directed pitiful gazes at the beautiful woman.
That green-robed girl was the humanized version of that Cyan Celestial Luan. Now that she had assumed the form of a petite woman, she was even more beautiful. Her features were delicate and her small face was exquisitely shaped. Her silky black hair flowed down like a waterfall, but at this moment, it was no longer as smooth and unimpeded as one. Her hair was now a mess.
The speed of that orb of fiercely blazing profound light couldn’t be considered fast, but the place where that green-robed woman was about to land just happened to be where Xu Disheng was. A pleading look appeared on her small face, and her bright red lips began to tremble as if she was begging Xu Disheng to help her block this blazing orb of profound light.
Xu Disheng gazed up at the extremely beautiful green-robed girl. In the next moment, a finger swiped sideways within the sleeves of his black and gold robe.
The woman floated within several meters of Xu Disheng as this happened. His black hair fluttered in the wind, revealing his handsome features and indifferent gaze. When his finger swept out, a thick, broad water screen appeared and wrapped itself around the woman, rendering her unable to move a single step.
The blazing orb of profound light ruthlessly smashed into the woman, striking her real body!
Bang!
The green-robed woman wasn’t able to resist. She was struck head-on and sent flying into the side of a relatively small Mountain Peak, where she was firmly embedded into the rock, life or death unknown.
Several Dao Foundation stage disciples angrily flew out from this relatively small Mountain Peak. But when they looked up and suddenly saw Chen Junsheng descending on his seven-colored sword light, they instantly suppressed their anger and put on a smile. After respectfully cupping their hands in his direction, they all returned to the Mountain Peak one after the other.
“This disciple sure is brave, acting against a maid of Senior Martial Brother Chen.”
Some disciples directed fearful gazes towards Xu Disheng.
“When I saw him taking action just now, I thought he was going to save that Cyan Celestial Luan. I didn’t think that he would…”
All of the bystanders had drastically different expressions as they talked amongst themselves.
“But looking at Senior Martial Brother Chen’s expression, he doesn’t seem angry…?” a disciple who was adept at reading body language said, scrutinizing his expression in a serious manner.
“I thought you were going to save her,” Chen Junsheng said, landing in front of Xu Disheng in a flash of seven-colored light. He glanced into the distance at the green-clothed woman, who had crashed into the rock of the Mountain Peak. Then, he turned back to Xu Disheng and sized him up. “Why?”
Although his tone was cold, it carried a hint of confusion.
After all, it was a fairly common occurrence for Chen Junsheng to teach his maids a lesson, but no one ever dared to get involved.
Many years ago, there were some people who tried to take action to save a damsel in distress, but they were all turned to dust.
However, Xu Disheng didn’t try to protect her or save her. Instead, he used a water screen technique to trap her, which piqued Chen Junsheng’s interest.
“I was just on his way to Wenyuan Mountain to accept a task when I saw a bird-type transformed monster running rampant. Slaying monsters is merely part of my duty as a disciple of the Shangqing Sacred Sect. It would be ill of me to shirk my duty,” Xu Disheng replied, speaking each word with a steady gaze. His tone was firm and full of a cold righteousness, causing the image of this Sea of Qi stage disciple before all the onlookers to be firmly etched into their minds.
Chen Junsheng’s expression was strange. He waved off the disciples behind him who wanted to speak and said, “So there are disciples like this in the sect nowadays? This is news to me.” He pointed in the direction of the Mountain Peak where the green-robed woman had been sent flying into and said, “Although she is a monster, she’s merely my maid and plaything.”
After he finished speaking, he started to ride away on his seven-colored sword light, bringing the several disciples behind him with him to where the woman was. But he suddenly stopped as if he thought of something and tossed out a jade slip. “Bring this jade slip to the main branch of Spirit Origin Hall and you can claim 1,000 spirit stones.”
The several disciples standing behind Chen Junsheng all gave Xu Disheng a closer look, forming an impression of this disciple who dared to act out against the maid of their Lord Chen.
Xu Disheng ignored all of the bizarre, astonished gazes of the people in the cities and the disciples floating around in the air and reached out to grab the floating jade slip. The firm, righteous look on his face was completely gone, and he returned to his previous expression of tranquil indifference as he flew off on the Yin Yang Diagram in the direction of Green Creek Peak.
Chen Junsheng, who was already at the peak Dao Foundation stage, was a direct descendent of the grand elder of the main branch of Spirit Origin Hall, Chen Xiuming.
Setting aside his Rank 4 Spiritual Root, his great-grandfather, Chen Xiuming, was the grand elder of the main branch of Spirit Origin Hall and one of the almighty powerhouses in the entire Wenyuan Mountain Range. He was an early stage Primordial Spirit stage cultivator, and he was known by title as Eternal Harmony Primordial Lord. He held an extraordinary amount of authority over the main branch of Spirit Origin Hall. Any action he took could cause an earthquake of changes in the distribution of resources throughout the entire Mountain Range.
Eternal Harmony Primordial Lord Chen Xiuming was the third disciple of one of the Mountain Masters of Wenyuan Mountain. The amount of influence he had in the sect through his firm control over the cultivation resources was unimaginably large.
As the most talented person in the younger generation of the Chen Clan, Chen Junsheng was doted on heavily by Chen Xiuming. In the Wenyuan Mountain Range, his status was second only to the direct descendents of the two Mountain Masters of Wenyuan Mountain.
Many of the people who saw this strange sight were already used to it. Seeing Chen Junsheng and his several attendants take away the green-clothed woman, they didn’t make any further comments and all went back to their own tasks.
The closer Xu Disheng got to Green Creek Peak, the stranger his expression became.
The Peak where the Secret Realms Office was located gave off an incongruent and inharmonious aura. If it weren’t for the map in the jade slip indicating that this was the place where the Secret Realms Office was, Xu Disheng wouldn’t have been able to draw the connection between this Mountain Peak and the Secret Realms Office.
The phantom image of the Yin Yang Diagram below him slowly transformed into motes of light and disappeared. Xu Disheng landed on Green Creek Peak and looked in the direction of the dark green great hall. After a while, he started walking toward it in a somewhat hesitant and perplexed manner.
“Junior Martial Brother Xu.”
Xu Disheng heard a somewhat surprised-sounding voice and turned to the side, where he saw Xing Xing, who had just landed in a beam of light, waving at him.
“Senior Martial Brother Xing, you also came here to receive tasks?” Xu Disheng asked.
“Yes. In the past few days, some matters got delayed, so I came this time to finish the tasks for this month and next month so I don’t have to make another trip,” Xing Xing said, gazing in the direction of the dark green great hall, a hint of disdain towards it in his eyes.
“This Mountain Peak…” Xu Disheng began hesitantly, somewhat unsure on how to even word his question.
“You’ll slowly come to an understanding about this matter. It would be clever of you to not speak too much about the former Peak Master of Green Creek Peak,” Xing Xing said with a hint of ridicule regarding the topic in his voice. However, he didn’t say more about the matter. “I have a feeling that 80% of the tasks we’ll take this time will be related to Splendid Commodity Peak’s Grand Auction. Come on, let’s go see Envoy Wei together.”
This dark green great hall was the place where the Secret Realms Envoys belonging to the Secret Realms Office did their work. That being said, the Peak Master and the Deacon weren’t here. After all, when people reached such a position, they would all have their own Mountain Peaks, so they wouldn’t be coming to Green Creek Peak every day.
After entering the great hall with Xing Xing, Xu Disheng’s eyes felt a bit more comfortable. Although the exterior was a dark green color, the inside was still pretty normal. The furnishings were all exquisite and luxurious, reaching the standards typical of a Dao Foundation stage disciple’s establishment, to the point of offering the heart some comfort.
However, Wei Yuanwei wasn’t here. Inside, there were only several intermediary disciples bustling about. When one of them saw Xing Xing enter with Xu Disheng, they swept a measuring glance over Xu Disheng before addressing Xing Xing.
“Xing Xing, these are the tasks that Envoy Wei has assigned to you.”
With that, he handed Xing Xing a jade slip before turning back to Xu Disheng and giving him another careful look over. “Are you that newly appointed intermediary disciple, Xu Disheng?”
“That is me.”
“This is for you. You can leave now,” the intermediary disciple said dismissively, handing over a jade slip. He seemed extremely busy and no longer paid the two of them any attention.
Glancing around at the several people present, Xing Xing turned to Xu Disheng and said, “These Senior Martial Brothers are resident intermediary disciples, unlike us. Let’s get out of here, Junior Martial Brother Xu.”
Xu Disheng nodded and walked with him out of the dark green great hall, then looked at the jade slip in his hand.
“Intermediary disciple Xu Disheng. After receiving this jade slip, head towards Cangming Peak at once and enter the Zhao Territory of the Mortal Secret Realms to collect tribute on behalf of Wooden Construct Spirit Master. You have a limit of two days.”
