Chapter 130: El Clásico
Naturally, Tyson's words caused an uproar, temporarily boosting his fame within the academy.
"Hahaha! This freshman dared to challenge Senior Crowley?! This guy's nuts!"
"I do admire his courage though! I mean, who would dare challenge Senior Crowley except for the representatives?"
"This is gonna be one good show! I wanna see Senior Crowley's current strength."
Hearing the words of the students from higher year levels slightly irked Tyson, however, he did like some of their words about how courageous he was.
'Now…Senior Crowley, you've got no choice but to fight me now don't you?' Tyson inwardly thought, a confident smirk plastered on his face.
If he could fight the so-called legend to at least a draw, then his reputation would shoot through the roof.
As for Shye, he was reluctant to fight this freshman because he didn't want to bully a lowerclassman, hence, he looked towards the deans as if asking for guidance.
Since the deans wanted to see at least a glimpse of his current strength, Dean Snowcrest crushed a cheap whisper talisman and secretly told Shye:
"Go, fight him, but take it a bit easy, and don't destroy his ego too much."
Recognizing the dean's voice, Shye turned his head and looked toward Dean Snowcrest before giving him a nod of affirmation.
He didn't really want to do this but it seemed like he had no choice.
Shye gently unclasped his hands from Shirley's before walking towards the clearing in the middle of the crowd and the grand stage, giving the audience a good view of the upcoming duel between an academy legend and an upcoming talented freshman.
Naturally, Shirley and Maia were all too happy to watch him fight again.
As for Shye, since the dean told him to take it easy, he decided to draw a wooden shortsword from his inventory as he waited for the freshman to arrive.
The deans and the representatives noticed this casual action but they didn't pay too much attention to it as they simply thought that Shye must've purchased or obtained some sort of spatial storage item which wasn't that rare as long as you had the money to pay for one.
Upon arriving in front of Shye, Tyson realized that the so-called legend had decided to use a wooden shortsword against him, making Tyson feel a bit irritated.
'How arrogant…I'll make you pay for underestimating me…' Tyson inwardly thought as he drew his Doran-brand iron gladius and equipped a reinforced circular shield before assuming his battle stance with a cold expression on his face.
Finally, after a few more moments, under the warm rays of sunlight, in front of thousands of students, the duel between the legend and the upcoming talent began.
Hot-blooded and eager to prove himself, Tyson instantly used his finisher combo [Dash Lv.2] and [Shield Bash Lv.1] to try and catch Shye off guard.
Unfortunately, the attribute gap between the two of them was just too large.
His finisher combo which looked speedy in the eyes of the freshman students was as slow as a turtle in Shye's eyes.
Hence, after determining the course of his attack, Shye gracefully dodged the combo by skillfully pivoting off his left foot before smoothly transitioning into a spinning neck slash.
'Ah…I shouldn't hit him too hard…' Shye suddenly remembered Dean Snowcrest's words so he purposely didn't put too much strength in this attack.
However, who would've thought that Tyson's vitality attribute wasn't that high even though he looked like the typical defensive specialist tank-type warrior?
*PAH*
Shye's wooden shortsword squarely struck the left side of Tyson's neck making his body slowly go limp as he lost the strength to even grip his sword and shield.
*THUD*
'Ah…Crap…Did I hit him a bit too hard?' Shye inwardly thought, a bit horrified as Tyson's body limped and fell to the ground with a thud.
Naturally, after seeing the results of the duel, the freshmen students were stupefied.
They couldn't believe that the strongest warrior in their year-level, Tyson Lee, who decimated everyone in the end-of-semester tournament, couldn't even hold a candle and was knocked out cold in one graceful clean hit to the neck.
Still, everyone loved a good show so after a clean victory, the students erupted into wild cheers.
[Congratulations! You've earned 3000 points!]
'Oohh! This! Earning 3000 points just like that! I've missed this!' Shye almost wanted to cry in elation.
Inside the labyrinth, he had to work for every single point, even defeating the dangerous kobold general only gave him 3500 points.
However, inside the academy, he earned 3000 points while barely doing anything so he couldn't help but feel giddy.
'Haaah…The gap is that large huh?'
Meanwhile, Dean Snowcrest couldn't help but inwardly sigh. He knew that Shye already took it way too easy so Tyson could only blame himself. Hopefully, he could recover from this humiliating loss and make a comeback in the future.
Naturally, witnessing how Shye easily defeated Tyson, the battle-maniac, Siegfried, felt his blood boiling, urging him to once again clash blades with his rival.
'As strong as ever!' Siegfried thought to himself as he jumped down from the stage, drew his tachi, and pointed it towards Shye.
"What a bully! How dare you bully a freshman! Come! Fight me!" Siegfried said in a joking manner.
He didn't even wait for Shye to agree and immediately assumed his battle stance. He was sure that Shye also wanted to fight him after a long time.
As for Shye, he merely chuckled at Siegfried's antics. He knew that the guy would use every excuse possible just for a chance to fight against him.
Heck, the bastard even blamed him for purchasing the last meat bun in the academy canteen in the past just to challenge him to a fight so this wasn't anything new to him.
Shye also wanted to test Siegfried's current strength so he enthusiastically took out his Nightbringer and assumed his battle stance.
"Holy crap! Senior Crowley and Senior Siegfried are going to fight!"
"Do they have bad blood between them?"
"No, you idiots! Those two are best friends and this is just a friendly match!"
Naturally, Siegfried's challenge started an even bigger commotion, igniting the flames of passion in every student's heart as they eagerly waited for their duel to begin.
Even the other representatives wanted to throw it down with Shye right now but unfortunately, the deans would probably only allow one fight between representatives at most and the bastard, Siegfried, beat them to the punch.
Although the two of them always used to fight each other before, their last battle was around a year and seven months ago so Siegfried was excited as hell to fight Shye again.
Finally, after a few moments of a fierce staredown, the battle between the two strongest warrior students of Colzen Academy began.
