Chapter 172 172 – Tales From A Distant Past
I don't feel anything. This light doesn't have any effect. However, for those humans, this will touch their hearts.
What's an effective way.
Some of the spectators knelt down, and soon others followed suit. Some were seen crying, calling out Velvet's name.
"My people… Trust me, your prophet. The current Lord Vorn differs from what is written in the holy books or historical texts." Velvet changed her way of talking to be softer. "He doesn't want to destroy humanity and push us into darkness. No, he just wants the world to be better. Now he realizes there is no point in this world being destroyed."
The prophet's eyes began to tear up. She looked around at her people.
"This is also a gift from God. He opens Vorn's heart to be better." She continued while placing her palms on her chest. "There's nothing to be afraid of anymore. There will be no war against the demons. We will come together to become something better."
I got closer to Velvet and wrapped my arms around her waist.
She took a deep breath. "And because of that, we decided to form an alliance." Velvet made an announcement, then turned towards me. She gave me a faint smile again.
"What a great speech, my love," I whispered to her. "They will definitely support us."
We closed our eyes and linked our lips to each other. Cheers roared again, but this time there was no protest. The magic just now really convinced them.
"All hail Vorn! All hail Velvet Byrne!" Several of my subordinates chanted among the audience.
"All hail Vorn!!!! All hail Velvet Byrne!!! All hail Vorn!!! All hail Velvet Byrne!!!" In a short time, it was followed by the other spectators.
We broke our kiss. The roar of the crowd grew louder, and we waved at them.
Damn. This victory is much more special to me than conquering them by force. I gain a country just by making someone submit to me.
Velvet gestured to an aide who was inside. That aide gave a folded black cloth while bowing to the prophet.
Velvet and I held that fold. She nodded at me, and we opened the object, which was a black flag.
"And with this, I officially announce that the nation of Ascaind has joined the Empire of Vorn!!!" Velvet exclaimed, and again it was greeted with cheers from the audience.
I smiled with satisfaction at the red logo in the middle of the flag. Because I no longer have wings, that thing is in the shape of a V with horns. We decided to ditch resemblances of Lyran religious symbols.
Ah, I can't get enough of this feeling. This is the most incredible day for me.
***
It was late at night. I entered the big temple in the government building area.
I found Velvet sitting in the front seat, looking at the statue of the prophet Lyra.
"Sorry, my lord. Maybe you despise God, but I still think this is his will." Velvet's gaze was so blank. "So, I'm looking for peace here."
However, she did not pray anymore.
I sat next to her. "I don't despise God. I even thanked him because of him I got you."
She looked at me and was silent for a moment, then continued her speech. "We feel the same, my lord. I am also happy to be one with you…. You may think I'm doing this because of circumstances, but these feelings are real."
Her words triggered my heart to beat like crazy.
She got up from the chair, walked a few steps forward, and looked back at the statue of her predecessor.
"I really love you, Lord Vorn. I adore your way. In your heart, I see goodness. I've tried to deny it, but always fail."
That's a great compliment. I could have come up and hugged her to return her feelings.
However, I want this woman to truly prove her feelings. I want to see how far she has fallen for me.
Never getting an answer, Velvet turned her body to face me. Her eyes were watery, and her hands squeezed the yellow dress she was wearing.
"You need proof, huh?" She flashed a smile. "That is a fair thing. Before this, we were on two very different sides. Since long ago, people would not believe that the two sides could come together."
She walked and stopped inches from me. I looked at her face but still didn't say anything. I also suppressed the feeling inside me so it wouldn't show on my face.
"Do you know about Orrian's story?" She asked in a low voice.
"Yes," I answered without changing my expression, though my heart beat faster after hearing that name. "He's a prophet in a distant time, Lyra's predecessor. Born in a nation of elves, he is adept at using arrows and loves to sing. His good looks are also very well known throughout the world."
"He loved an ordinary woman…. But that woman couldn't believe that the holy and high-ranking Orrian loved her. Even after getting married, she still doesn't believe it."
"So, Orrian has to do something, right?" I responded, still maintaining my usual expression.
"Yes." With a blushing face, Velvet took off her sandals and lifted her dress up. I gulped when I saw the bottom of her, which was only covered by white panties. She had beautifully curvy hips, even though they were only slightly larger than standard.
She continued to lift her dress, then let it fall to the floor.
Now, she was standing before me, wearing only a white bra and panties.
I held my breath, looking at her slender body, which were wrapped in fair skin and adorned with thin muscles. I could even find soft abs on her stomach.
She was indeed a warrior.
Those muscles didn't take away her beauty but instead made me unable to take my eyes off her.
That woman sighed, the red on her face getting thicker. Even so, she kept looking at me. Slowly, her trembling hands began to move to her back, about to untie her bra.
