Chapter 144 144 – The Prophet's Feelings
Hearing the prophet's voice, Ritor also ran, then swung his great axe. Velvet had to jump back to avoid it. That slash generated strong winds, a sign that the minotaur's speed had multiplied.
Velvet felt she might die if her body was hit by such a powerful attack.
Ritor continued to swing his axe, destroying the surrounding buildings, making the prophet can only dodge. And the minotaur's attack was not random. All the axe swings were so steady and on point. He didn't attack like a fool, though he looks like he's lost his mind.
The prophet could see no opening to strike back.
She kept running with decreased stamina and the pain that kept torturing her. She didn't know how to get out of this situation. Even though no matter what happens, a servant of God must defeat the evil in front of her.
However, look at her now. Just run and dodge.
Velvet's back was hit by an axe from Ritor. This time the prophet's body was thrown further and higher. She landed hard on the ground like a ragdoll, bounced a few times, and finally rolled over.
The pain now took over her body, and her mouth vomited blood. Because she was wearing a helmet, the blood covered her face, filling her nose with a pungent odor.
She experienced internal bleeding. Her body can't move and just twitching. Her vision blurred, but she could still see that the minotaur was approaching.
There is no option to give up. She must get up soon. She didn't want to be the first prophet in history to lose.
Unfortunately, her body doesn't want to follow her orders.
"Come on…." She groaned, finally managing to stretch out her hand to grab her rapier, which was no longer glowing.
However, the minotaur was too close. His breathing was heavy, and he started to raise his axe high.
"God, please help me." In desperation, the whisper left the prophet's mouth.
One drop of her tears fell, and suddenly there was a loud rumble. An earthen golem tackled Ritor from the side until he fell.
Velvet saw the golem beating Ritor, but the minotaur managed to push it away and got up. Then, two more golems came and attacked the horned beast.
They exchange blows. Even though he was attacked by three golems, Ritor could still hold on and even gave combination fists to those three. However, his body also received punches from his opponents.
While the fierce battle was going on, Velvet looked to the side, finding Candice raising a magic staff in the distance.
Because every punch from Ritor destroys part of Candice's golems, the mage has to repair it continuously so that the minotaur cannot break free.
"You stupid." Velvet finds out that Candice drank the forbidden potion again. Otherwise, the prophet's friend wouldn't be able to make up to three giant golems like that.
Velvet then forced herself to stand up, even though she felt her body had given up.
She had never felt insane pain like this. What keeps her going is her obligation as a prophet.
The hope of many people is on her back.
When she stood up, she thumped her legs so she could walk. Then, she picked up her sword, lighting it again.
That woman knows this is her last chance. After this, she won't be able to do anything anymore. Time is running out.
"Arrrghhh!!!" She shouted to raise her spirits again, then began to limp forward. Gradually, she stepped faster and finally ran with all her might.
Seeing that, Candice moved her golems to make room for the prophet.
Velvet jumped forward, focused on her enemy.
However, the minotaur raised his hand, blocking the blade's path from his heart.
The prophet could only widen her eyes in terror when she saw the minotaur's hand emit smoke from Her sword. Meanwhile, the horned creature glared viciously at that woman, like a beast looking at its prey.
Velvet's body began to shake. The light on her sword has disappeared, a sign that her power has run out. There was only one word in her mind.
She would really die.
Little Thud appeared as the prophet fell down. She turned her head to the golems, who were now frozen. When checking on Candice, she found her friend already on her knees with ragged breaths.
Yes, the mage has also run out of steam.
Ritor then moved his hand to Velvet. The prophet could only silently see the big hand approaching her.
That question appeared again in the prophet's mind. Has God abandoned her?
However, the hand never reached Velvet. Ritor instead knelt down and vomited a lot of blood, then collapsed.
Velvet still couldn't get the words out. She only looked at Ritor, who was motionless, even though his chest was still going up and down.
She really didn't have the energy to finish off her opponent. Even if she still had the strength, she wasn't sure she could do it.
The image that this creature wakes up again and destroys her haunts the prophet.
Candice's golems also collapsed, and parts of them formed one smaller golem. That earthen doll then carried the prophet's body and ran toward Candice.
With great difficulty, the mage climbed onto the earth doll's back. Then, the golem ran again and left the place.
"We better hide first. Who knows, maybe some demons are still hiding somewhere." Candice spoke while squeezing her aching chest. "After that, let's think about the next step…."
The mage stopped talking when she saw the prophet crying.
"We just need to rest, Vel." The mage sighed. "Remember, we have often gone through challenges like this."
"This is different, Candice. I know you feel it too. With just two attacks, I've already lost." Velvet wiped her tears. "My body feels broken, and I'm exhausted…. Yes, I managed to activate the holy buff… But why? Why can't I really end their leader?"
Candice couldn't answer anymore. She had never seen her best friend this hopeless, this heartbroken.
"Perhaps, I have failed to become a prophet." Velvet whispered. Her tears were still flowing down.
