Chapter 182 - Reporters
Chapter 182: Reporters
Translator: Lonelytree
A middle-aged man in a suit and tie stood before Mai Qi’s interrogation room. He was holding a briefcase and his expression was difficult to describe. Captain Nie nodded at him and pushed the room door open. I followed him in.
“You capture me when you feel like it and you want to chase me away when you feel like it too? If I don’t have my watch with me, I would have thought I’ve transmigrated back to communist China! You call yourself the police? You are more like lackeys who accept money to do evil deeds!” The princess had managed to insult every officer in the room without even cursing once. One officer was so scared that he shrunk to the corner.
“Nanxing!” When Mai Qi turned and saw me, she jumped up to hug me. Her handcuff had been removed but she refused to leave and instead stayed to berate the officer one by one. When we were arrested, I told her not to say anything. After her handcuffs were removed, she must know that her help had arrived and she unloaded everything she had been holding in.
I hugged her back. “Let’s go home.”
Mai Qi let go of me and asked me seriously, “Go home? Really? I haven’t spent enough time here yet!”
From the corner of my eye, I saw Captain Nie wilt like a flower. I smiled. “Let’s go home first, we can settle the score later. Plus this place stinks, why do you want to stay here?”
Mai Qi thought for a moment, “That’s true.” She pulled me and walked out. The lawyer at the door quickly accosted her. “Miss...”
Mai Qi stopped him. “You can go back now. By the way, how did you manage to arrive so fast? Is it because my mother has ordered you to spy on me? Tell her that I am living just fine on my own! She doesn’t need to come to visit me. I am going to work over the holiday break. Goodbye!” Mai Qi pulled me away without looking back.
I waved at the lawyer who looked like he was about to cry and I mouthed, “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her.”
Mai Qi charged out like a bull. I chased after her.
At the parking lot, Jing Tian stood with his back leaning against the glass window of the station building. I rushed towards him. When he saw me, he opened his arms. I rushed into his embrace. He hugged me and whispered, “Did someone bully you?”
I shook my head and hugged him tighter. With Jing Tian around, I am not afraid of anything!
Jing Tian patted me on the back. “We’ll talk about it at home. We better deal with your friend first.”
Only then did I remember Mai Qi. I turned around and the princess was glaring at me with a pout. I sidled up to her in apology. “My bad, come on, let’s head home.”
I turned to tell Jing Tian, “Oh right, they have confiscated my laptop.”
Jing Tian nodded. “Okay, you two get into the car first.”
Before we walked out the front gate, footsteps came from behind us. It was Jing Ning, Nanyang and Ye Qian.
Outside the gate, the reporters surrounded the station from all sides. This was something I didn’t expect. Who leaked this to the press?
It was fine for me but Mai Qi definitely couldn’t be photographed. Mai Qi’s palms were sweaty. I blocked her behind me. The reporters still hadn’t spotted us.
“Nanxing!” Su Qian’s voice came from a police cruiser in the parking lot. I sighed in relief and pulled Mai Qi into the cruiser with me.
There was a uniformed officer in the passenger seat. Su Qian started the cruiser and drove out from the station. I looked out the tinted window. There were more reporters than I anticipated.
“They are all here for us? The culprit sure is vicious. I have to admire their ruthlessness..” I muttered to myself.
