Chapter 69 A Master's Arrival
"The flames of despair which consume till the object is out of existence! They embody the despair of those with great power!
"Wow, classic!" Rex grinned as he looked at the sword
Behold thou art bested one of the heads of the Hydra but dost thou have the power to wield it longer?!" Cronus commented as he noticed Rex's excited tone after seeing the sword's power
"Way to go, spoiling the mood!" Rex retorted as if on cue, the system notification he hated the most popped up in his view
{System alert: 0/65 Aether}
The sword in his hand started disintegrating bit by bit until it was gone. "Talk about a limited time offer" Rex facepalmed.
Jefferson was in awe at Rex's actions. He had so many questions in his mind. Just where had Rex gotten such a powerful sword from and just where did the sword suddenly go now? He looked at the Hydra which was throwing a tantrum, furiously roaring in pain and thrashing around its long serpentine tail.
"Hmm...whatever that kiddo just pulled off... might be our only chance of winning this," Jeff clenched his fists and Aether gathered around his right hand. He raised his left hand in the air to signal to the soldiers who had kept on firing at the now-dazed Hydra.
The Hydra at this time, realizing that one of its heads was gone due to Rex's black flames, bit off the head with its middle head and spat it away. Surprisingly, nothing grew out of it anymore. It was now left with eight heads. Its middle head which had touched the flame was surprisingly unhurt.
"Guess even Hydra's have their off days," Rex said, giving a shrug. "Maybe it just needs a snack or something."
"Enough firing everyone!" Jefferson commanded
Immediately, all of the soldiers ceased fire as they turned to Jefferson awaiting the new order.
"We will now strike with our abilities! Act as a team and use your abilities to it's best! We need to take down this beast while it is dazed! This is our only chance" Jefferson dropped his left hand after talking. The Aether in his right hand, at this time, had formed into a large sword. The sword overflowed with Aether.
"What's that? A remake of my sword?" Rex grunted as he saw Jefferson's new move.
"Nay! It is just a mere sword with advanced slicing and piercing capabilities as a result of him using Aether!" Cronus remarked
"Oh, a fake then?"
"Yea! A fake" Cronus replied.
Suddenly, Jefferson charged forward with his Aether-forged blade, leading the way. "Alright, soldiers! Give it everything you've got!" His voice boomed across the battlefield, rallying his team as they surged into action.
The Hydra, enraged and thrashing, lashed out with its massive tail. A soldier with super speed zipped forward, barely visible as he blurred across the ground, evading the deadly tail swipe. He pivoted, a trail of blue energy following his path, and landed a lightning-fast series of punches against the Hydra's scaly hide, each hit resounding like a drum.
Above, a group of aerial soldiers with the ability to fly swooped down in perfect formation. They hurled spears infused with flames that ignited as they hurtled through the air, striking the Hydra's heads and momentarily dazing the beast. The Hydra reared back, its eyes blazing with a furious light, only for another group of telekinetic soldiers to intervene.
"Keep it pinned!" one of the telekinetics yelled, veins bulging as they poured their focus into holding the Hydra's necks still. Invisible force seized two of the heads, twisting and wrenching them back, while a fire-wielder stepped forward. "My turn!" she bellowed, thrusting her hands outward as flames erupted and raced across the Hydra's scaly flesh. The flames danced, licking at the monster's heads, and the Hydra screeched in pain, its movements growing more erratic.
Jefferson used the opening to lunge forward, his Aether sword slicing through the air. With a powerful slash, he severed one of the Hydra's still-dazed heads, the blade cleaving through scales and muscle with surgical precision. The head tumbled away, crashing into the rubble below. "Push harder! Don't let up!" he yelled.
The Hydra retaliated, its remaining heads snapping furiously. One head unleashed a torrent of acidic venom, raining down on the battlefield. A soldier with telekinetic shielding powers reacted instantly, forming a shimmering dome over their comrades to protect them from the deadly liquid. The venom sizzled and hissed as it splashed against the barrier, but the shield held firm.
Meanwhile, another soldier with super strength leaped onto the Hydra's tail, gripping it with both hands. With a roar of determination, he yanked and twisted, forcing the monstrous appendage away from his allies. The Hydra's tail whipped and writhed, trying to shake him off, but he held on, his muscles bulging with effort.
"Go! Go! Go!" the flying soldiers shouted, dive-bombing the Hydra and unleashing gusts of wind to destabilize it. A telekinetic soldier joined in, amplifying the wind currents and sending the Hydra staggering back a few paces. They were working in perfect synergy, a dance of fire, wind, and raw power.
"Keep pressing it!" Jefferson commanded, his voice cracking from exertion. The Hydra's resistance was relentless, and despite the teamwork and abilities displayed by the soldiers, the beast's strength and durability were monstrous.
The Hydra, sensing the pain and desperation of the humans before it, let out an ear-splitting roar. Its heads synchronized in a devastating attack, each one unleashing a different element: searing flames, shards of ice, and waves of concussive force. The battlefield became a storm of chaos as the Hydra retaliated with its full fury.
The soldiers responded with renewed vigor. The fire-wielder created walls of flame to counter the freezing breath, while the super-speed soldier dashed through the chaos, rescuing those in danger. A soldier with the power to manipulate the earth stomped the ground, causing jagged spikes to shoot up and pierce the Hydra's underbelly, though they barely scratched its armored scales.
Rex's mind raced as he watched the chaos unfold. His Aether reserves were depleted, but he couldn't give up now. The Hydra roared, its heads thrashing with rage and frustration. Despite the incredible power and coordination of the soldiers, the beast remained an unstoppable juggernaut.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
One of the Hydra's heads lunged forward, and a soldier with telekinetic abilities hurled a massive piece of debris to block it. Another soldier blasted the Hydra with concentrated light beams, aiming for its eyes. Yet, even with their combined might, the beast refused to falter.
Cronus's voice came again, more serious this time. "You must regain your strength, Harbinger.
"Heck! I know that already!" Rex quickly entered and ran away from the ongoing chaos. He hated to admit it but right now, he was just weak before this monster without his Aether. After arriving at a secluded spot, he entered a meditative state, drawing in AEther to fill his reserves.

As Rex settled into his meditative stance, he tried to block out the sounds of chaos from the battlefield, the roars of the Hydra, and the cries of his fellow soldiers. He focused inward, visualizing the flow of Aether, feeling it begin to seep back into his veins.
Meanwhile, the battle continued in full force. Jefferson, his Aether-forged sword glimmering, pressed his attack, delivering powerful, precise strikes at the Hydra's thick hide. The remaining heads lashed out in a frenzy, snapping and spewing elemental attacks at the soldiers who dodged and countered with their unique abilities.
"Don't falter! Stay together!" Jefferson bellowed, parrying a strike from the Hydra's head that came dangerously close to taking him out. He then lunged forward and slashed another wound into the creature's neck, but the Hydra refused to be weakened, thrashing about more viciously.
High above, a winged soldier dove into the fray, conjuring a swirling vortex of wind that struck one of the heads, sending it reeling back. The wind-wielder yelled to his teammates, "I need a follow-up, now!"
The fire-wielder from earlier stepped in, her hands igniting into fierce flames. "Let's cook this bish!" She hurled a blazing fireball into the stunned Hydra's head, causing it to flinch. The combination attacks were buying the soldiers precious moments, but every move required immense coordination.
Jefferson glanced around, searching for Rex, who was conspicuously absent. Where did that kid go? He wondered, desperately hoping Rex had some plan that would turn the tide of this battle. We can't keep this up forever.
The Hydra's middle head reared back, its serpentine eyes narrowing. With a guttural roar, it summoned a surge of dark energy that erupted from its mouth. The soldiers scattered, narrowly avoiding the devastation that ripped apart the ground, leaving a smoldering crater in its wake.
"Fall back and regroup!" Jefferson ordered, sweat streaming down his face. His grip on his Aether sword tightened. If this keeps up, we'll be overwhelmed.
Suddenly, a loud voice came from behind, cutting through the chaos like a trumpet call. "For the love of Zeus's missing sandals, how does anyone operate these tiny little devices?!" The battlefield paused, if only for a split second, as a man stomped onto the scene, waving a rather abused-looking smartphone in one hand.
He was enormous, even for a demigod. With muscles that looked like they could bench press a mountain, he carried a massive club over one shoulder. His beard was wild, and his lion-skin cloak billowed dramatically. However, all that godly presence was ruined by the absolute look of confusion on his face as he glared at the phone.
"Jefferson!" He bellowed, his voice a mix of annoyance and booming authority. "I'm telling you, this thing is cursed! I tried calling you, but it kept telling me I was 'out of data.' What in Tartarus is data anyway?!"
Jefferson groaned, though a small grin tugged at the corners of his lips. "Master, glad you could make it… even if your struggles with technology are as legendary as your strength."
The man huffed, shoving the phone into his lion-skin cloak. "Bah! It's all nonsense. Back in my day, we just used smoke signals or shouted really loudly." He then surveyed the chaos, eyes narrowing at the Hydra. "Well, well, you've got yourselves a lovely bit of trouble here."
