"What should we do with him?" A Soldier pointed at Lucius' unconscious body on the floor.

Jefferson turned around, his expression cold "Lock him up in your base and try getting answers out of him....I believe you know just how to do that"

Rex turned to Lucius' unconscious body as he tried examining him with god's eyes but he couldn't get any information "Who's that?" he asked Jefferson.

"The leader of the Shadow guild assassins" Jefferson replied as the soldiers took their leave with Lucius.

Rex was startled "Their leader?... Aren't leaders supposed to look fierce, Why do I feel like he's an average ice cream vendor?"

"Hmm, an ice cream vendor who's at the demi-god level uh? That's sweet!" Jefferson remarked and then looked up at the clouds, his expression gloomy. "We've got to hurry!"

"What bout your friend? You said you were calling an old friend weren't you?"

Jefferson sighed "He'll be here soon, that is.... if he now knows how to handle a phone" Jefferson brought out a teleportation device and scanned Rex and himself with it. "We're running out of time!

He crushed the teleportation device and they both disappeared

In a flash of blue light, Rex and Jefferson materialized amidst a scene that looked more like a nightmare than a city. Towering above the skyline stood the Hydra, its nine heads writhing and snapping like serpents, each one belching plumes of flame, lightning, or torrents of water that wreaked havoc in every direction.

It was as massive as a skyscraper, its scaled hide gleaming like molten metal under the glow of the fires spreading through the streets.

Buildings were crumbling under the beast's relentless assault. A thick cloud of ash and smoke filled the air, and the crackling sounds of electricity, hissing water, and roaring flames merged into a monstrous storm that seemed to shake the earth itself.

The Hydra's heads lashed out at buildings as though swatting at flies, one spewing streams of lightning that turned street lamps to molten metal, while another unleashed torrents of water that flooded intersections and drowned anything unlucky enough to be in its path.

Its fiery head roared and blasted an entire row of office buildings, reducing them to rubble with a single, blistering exhale.

The streets below were chaos. People ran in every direction, screaming as debris rained down, cars piled up and overturned, and fires consumed entire blocks. Rex stared, wide-eyed.

"Okay… so, this just got a whole lot worse," he muttered, swallowing hard.

Jefferson, already scanning the Hydra with his omnipotent gaze, nodded grimly. "It's not an ordinary creature...

Rex instinctively activated his god's eyes "Okay, let's see what it's got!"

Name: Learnaen Hydra

Origin: Unknown

"Great! Once more, my eyes can't see anything!" Rex growled in frustration

"Thine eyes cannot see the abilities of one greater than thee, remember? Thine only option is to use fate's eyes. Cronus spoke

"Thought you warned me about using that a while ago!" Rex replied

Cronus sighed, his voice sounding weary "I told you not to interfere with the threads.....that doesn't mean you can't use it!"

"You should mention these things first!" Rex replied as he activated his fate's eyes. His eyes turned eerie red and glowed with a dark red light. He glanced at everyone around him, he couldn't help but let out a gasp again as he could see the destinies of everyone around him and their connections. He turned to Jefferson who was staring intensely at the Hydra and wasn't paying any heed to Rex.

{System alert: Thou canst see the fate of a divine being!}

"Whoa, really?!"

"Focus on the Hydra Harbinger!"

"got it!" Rex turned to the Hydra and his eyes could see the threads hanging above its head. But unfortunately, he couldn't find any name. All he saw was...

{The Destiny of a formless monster cannot be decided}

"Destiny of a formless monster?" Rex was perplexed.

Before Rex could contemplate further, Jefferson activated another teleportation device, enveloping both of them in blue light. They reappeared closer to the Hydra, near the heart of the devastation.

The monster's nine heads turned, sensing their presence as its lightning-spewing head let out a bone-rattling hiss. Just as Rex braced himself, Jefferson gestured toward the swarming civilians caught in the chaos below.

"Rex, get those people out of here," he ordered.

Rex blinked in confusion. "What? Civilians? Jefferson, that's what they're for." He gestured toward the approaching battalion of soldiers.

Jefferson's gaze remained steady. "They'll assist with the Hydra. We need someone with speed and focus to save lives. That's you."

"Grr! Got it!" Rex replied as he ran away, his expression still confused and alarming "Formless? What does that mean?"

"The true form of the Hydra hasn't been released yet. The fate of a thing without a heart of its own cannot be decided. All things are destined by the choices they make but a monster without the capability to decide has no destiny, no soul, no emotion, just devour or be devoured."

"Hmmm," Rex muttered as he increased his pace, Aether surging out of his feet as he ran "So, does that mean this thing can take a form?"

"Yea, it can but it'll need to be stopped before it does or it'll grow stronger than it is right now....at that point, I doubt even a demi-god can stop it!"

Rex dashed forward and scooped up a child who'd been separated from her parents and carried her to safety, dodging a falling lamppost as he went.

He spotted a cluster of people trapped in a car that had overturned, the vehicle's frame pinning them to the ground. With a swift punch, he shattered the car's frame, pulling the family out one by one as they gasped in relief.

"Don't worry! You're safe now" Rex smiled at them but they simply ignored him and ran away in fright not minding to pay him any attention.

"What the?! Not even a thank you, my hero?" Rex facepalmed

Just then, he noticed a group of trapped civilians huddling against a building that was teetering, its foundation weakened by the Hydra's rampage. He sprinted toward them, hearing Cronus chuckle faintly in his mind.

"Truly, thou dost embody heroism's essence, doth thou not?"

"Laugh it up, Cronus," Rex grumbled, pulling a woman out from under a fallen beam. "If this is heroism, I think I was better off wrestling giant three-headed wolves."

As Rex guided the last group of civilians to safety, he heard Jefferson's voice cut through the chaos from a distance. "Rex! Everyone clear?"

Rex, panting and begrudgingly satisfied with his efforts, glanced around. "Yeah, yeah, they're safe.

Upon affirmation, Jefferson dashed toward the Hydra, summoning a radiant sphere of Aether energy in his hands as he launched himself toward one of its heads. With a roar, he slammed his fist into the creature's scaled jaw, Aether exploding on impact and forcing the beast's fiery head to reel back. The Hydra shrieked, two other heads snapping toward Jefferson as if in retaliation. One sprayed a surge of icy water, while another unleashed a streak of electricity that crackled through the air.

Jefferson's eyes narrowed as he activated his omnipotent vision, analyzing the Hydra's movements and planning his counterattacks. He leaped to dodge the lightning, then shifted his weight to deflect the water attack, rolling aside as he charged another punch filled with Aether. With a calculated strike, he slammed his fist into another head, forcing the beast to recoil again.

Behind him, soldiers opened fire, their bullets bouncing off the Hydra's scales. "Concentrate fire on its joints!" one soldier yelled, aiming at the monster's legs. The Hydra retaliated, letting out a thunderous roar as two of its heads released streams of fire toward the soldiers, scattering them.

These bullets weren't normal bullets, they were bullets infused with the energy gotten from crystals. It was best effective when used against monsters.

"Seriously? An open fire against a monster that size? Aren't they gonna use their abilities?!

Rex let out an exasperated sigh as he watched the soldiers firing away, his eyes narrowing at the futility of their efforts. "I mean, did they not get the memo? It's a giant nine-headed Hydra, not a regular lizard with a bad attitude!"

"Harbinger! Thou hast not realized it yet but that monster in sight has been strengthened by Zeus and Poseidon.

"Your sons? So this is still a silly entertainment to them uh?" Rex's eyes blazed with rage as he locked his eyes on the Hydra.

"It has always been a game to them" Cronus replied.

Meanwhile, Jefferson was still exchanging blows with the Hydra, each hit landing with enough force to rattle the buildings around them. As the Hydra recoiled, its lightning head targeted Jefferson, spewing crackling energy toward him. Rex watched, eyebrows raised, as Jefferson calmly ducked under the electric beam and retaliated with a punch that sent the head jerking back.

Suddenly, Rex's body flared with Aether energy, raw and radiant, like a supernova set to unleash. The power pulsed through him, each wave sending a cascade of energy down his arms as he slowly raised his hand, focusing everything he had. His fingertips crackled and sparked, threads of pure Aether coiling and twisting, taking shape in his hands.

Slowly, almost reverently, he molded the energy into a spear, its form sharp and gleaming, radiating a ghostly glow against the ashen sky. The Aether around him hummed with an intensity that seemed to absorb even the noise of the chaos around them; the cries, the roaring Hydra, all drowned in the searing focus that poured into his weapon.

Rex felt the energy resonate with him, syncing to his heartbeat as the spear grew longer, sharper, potent enough to rip through even the hide of this demi-god Hydra.

He planted his feet and took a steadying breath, feeling the weight and perfect balance of the spear in his hand.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"To hell with you harem gods and your filthy games!" Rex let out a cry. He hurled the spear with all his strength. It tore through the air with a high-pitched whine, a blazing line of light that cut through the smoky haze.

As the spear closed in, the Hydra's head snapped around, but it was too late, the Aether spear slammed into it with an explosive force, piercing through scales and hide. The Hydra screeched in agony as the Aether burned into its flesh, causing it to recoil, each head writhing in pain.

{System alert: 0 AETHER LEFT}
