Chaos Evolution: Only I Was Granted 3 Wishes

Chapter 191: Palkus’ Journey! 8

"Yes, the world tree. The tree that gave birth to the elves and where the saints and imperial families live." The instructor confirmed Palkus' doubts.

"I see." Palkus contemplated. It's not that he didn't know what the world tree was; in fact, the young goman was more knowledgeable than most; he just asked to make sure he heard right; after all, something related to the world tree wouldn't be so simple.

"This..." Palkus opened his eyes when he looked back at the mission to check the prize.

"Right? You won't have to worry about money anymore, hahaha!" The instructor laughed when he noticed where Palkus' was staring.

"Yeah, 100 billion P$ is a fortune... Well, it would have been if I didn't need high-quality materials in bulk." Palkus smiled weerily. The cheapest EX-rank material would cost him millions.

"It's still more than enough to last you quite a while." The instructor stated.

"So... what happened for them to put on such a mission?" Palkus looked up at the instructor and asked.

"I guess you have a right to know. You see, some crazy bastard had nothing to do but mess with a saintess. He used an EX-rank poison thought to be extinct and ended up chased and executed by your race's law enforcement team." The instructor shook his head at the stupidity of the criminal.

"So what's the problem? Shouldn't the Saint family be able to find the best alchemists to cure the disease?"

"That should have been the case but, all alchemists had a hard time making the antidote, so the world tree had no choice but to resort to the guild in hope that someone talented like you manages to make it." The instructor explained.

"That sounds annoying. Alright, give me the recipe, please. I will make it as soon as possible." Palkus asked.

"I'm looking forward to seeing you make it and surprise the world once again." The instructor smiled as he handed the recipe to Palkus.

"Thank you." Palkus took the recipe and got up to leave the room with the receptionist, who was waiting for him.

When Palkus left the guild, he directly went to the alchemist's building. When those at the counter saw him, they got up to greet him in unison.

"Welcome, Elder Palkus." Every alchemist beyond S-rank was an elder and worthy of respect.

"Hello, I'm here to make a potion and I would like a room where I can work with peace of mind and if possible, I want to get some ingredients." Palkus approached the counter and demanded.

"This is what I want. I don't have any money on me right now. Is it possible for me to be lent the ingredients until I can pay for them?" He added as he handed the receptionists the recipe.

The receptionists looked at each other in confusion for a second before one of them took the recipe and took a look.

"You need EX-rank ingredients? Very well, Elder. Please follow me to the second floor; I will lead you to your lab. Mardi, please bring these ingredients from the storage." The receptionist who took a look at the recipe came out of the counter and told Palkus to follow him while handing the paper to his co-worker.

Palkus followed the young man to the second floor, and there he took a look at the corridor full of doors.

"Are these rooms spatially expanded? Is that why there's close to no distance between each door?" Palkus asked.

"Yes, Elder." The receptionist confirmed. After walking for a distance, they stopped in front of a door with Palkus' name on it.

"This is your room; the ingredients will be there in a second."

Palkus opened the door and entered, leaving the receptionist behind.

"It sure is spatially expanded." Looking at the wide room with all the equipment needed to perform alchemy, Palkus opened his eyes wide.

There was even a furnace that was needed for higher efficiency.

On top of a table that was situated in the room, a portal opened as the ingredients Palkus needed slowly floated down, the recipe paper falling down with them.

"That is quite efficient." Palkus smiled and went to begin his work.

-------------------

Around 30 minutes later, Palkus walked inside the guild building once again. The same receptionist that led him to the instructor the first time was there.

"I'm back." He announced.

"Hmm? Is there any problem with the mission you took?" The receptionist asked, thinking that maybe Palkus also had the same problem the other alchemists faced and couldn't make the antidote.

"No, it's done; here's the pill." Palkus took out a small wooden box and opened it to reveal the dark purple pill inside.

"You're already done?!" The receptionist opened her eyes wide in surprise.

"Yeah. So do I just put it here, or...?" Palkus confirmed and asked.

"No, we have to take it to the guild master's room once again." The receptionist said as she got out of the counter.

"By the way, why is it a pill and not a potion?" The receptionist walked closer to Palkus and asked.

"Hmm? That's what the recipe requires, though, pill-making alchemy is more complex than just concocting potions." Palkus replied as he looked at the receptionist.

The two walked all the way to the guild master's room. This time, Palkus led the way up.

"Guild master, Palkus is back with the antidote." The receptionist knocked on the door once again and announced.

"Hey, I told you to get off the desk! I've already done more than enough; come sit in your damn place already!" Shouts were heard from inside the room, with the instructor's familiar voice echoing out.

"Nuh uh, I dun wanna." a soft, drunken voice was heard. The receptionist, hearing that, raised her eyebrows.

'She's back?' she thought.

"Enter!" The same drunken voice gave the two permission to enter.

The receptionist opened the door and Palkus gazed inside.

"Is this the young man I heard so much about? Looking fine~"
