Chapter 42
C42 – The Celebration Party (3)
Pei Yu’s recent visit to the Martial Arts University was still fresh in Zheng Xiaoyue’s mind.
On that day, Pei Yu had departed with a look of displeasure, leaving Zheng Xiaoyue feeling uneasy ever since.
Today, seeing Pei Yu again, she was noticeably restrained, struggling to even speak clearly.
Moreover, the Head Master had informed her that Pei Yu was to attend their evening party as a distinguished guest and that they should extend every courtesy to him before Qian Wenwei’s arrival.
Unexpectedly, Pei Yu had shown up early, casually wandering around with a young girl in tow.
“Has Qian not arrived yet?” Pei Yu inquired with a cool detachment.
“No, he asked me to look after you first.”
“This is my sister—Pei Yuner.”
Pei Yu introduced the girl. Pei Yuner appeared somewhat shy, offering a polite greeting, “Hello, big sister. My name is Pei Yuner.”
Zheng Xiaoyue was struck by Pei Yuner’s demeanor, thinking to herself how incredibly adorable the little girl was.
It was hard to believe that Pei Yu, a formidable Perfection Stage Grandmaster, had such a charming younger sister. The contrast between the siblings was stark.
”Hi, I’m Zheng Xiaoyue. What would you like to eat?”
Zheng Xiaoyue smiled warmly, her beauty casting a captivating glow.
“Yes, Pei Yuner is hungry,” Pei Yu stated. Pei Yuner blushed with embarrassment at his side.
Her brother’s blunt manner left her feeling a touch awkward.
“I see. Let me take you both to get something to eat,” Zheng Xiaoyue offered, leading the way.
Meanwhile, at a nearby banquet table, a group of people were seated.
“The Super Martial Club is even more opulent than I imagined.”
“Look, that’s the wealthiest man over there. The chairman of Qingfeng Group has come too. Isn’t that Grandmaster Zheng?”
The Ke family’s younger members couldn’t contain their excitement upon spotting the VIPs they usually only saw on TV, their enthusiasm bubbling over.
Old Master Ke tapped the table sharply, admonishing them, “Settle down and mind your manners!”
“Absolutely. You all have that deer-in-the-headlights look. Please, take a seat and let’s not bring shame upon the Ke family.”
The Ke family’s eldest son admonished the younger members with a stern seriousness. Tonight’s attendees at the Super Martial Club’s gala were the crème de la crème of society.
Business moguls, martial arts tycoons, and scions of esteemed families all mingled under one roof. They couldn’t afford to act like rubes fresh off the turnip truck, lest they become the butt of jokes.
Yet, deep down, Old Master Ke was immensely taken aback.
As a Third Grade martial artist, he had never before set foot in the Super Martial Club. Now granted access, he was filled with a sense of great privilege.
“Were it not for the Yan family, we wouldn’t be here rubbing elbows with the high and mighty.”
Ke Huayuan whispered, struggling to contain his excitement. His wife, Fei Ning, despite being dressed to the nines, faded into the background upon their arrival. She felt no match for the glamorous daughters and wives of the other elite families.
Just then, the elegantly attired Ke Lianxi, accompanied by a dashing young man, approached the Ke family to exchange pleasantries.
Ke Lianxi was a vision in her white evening gown and black stilettos, turning heads and drawing admiring glances throughout the venue.
The striking young man at her side was none other than the Yan family’s heir, recently deemed Ke Lianxi’s boyfriend.
At that moment, Zheng Xiaoyue, along with Lin Xiu and Pei Yuner, made their way over.
Pei Yu, with his keen vision, spotted the Ke family group.
“What’s the matter, senior?”
Zheng Xiaoyue inquired when she noticed Pei Yu pause.
“Oh, it’s nothing. I just remembered there’s something I need to take care of. You go ahead and take my sister to grab some food. I’ll join you shortly.”
“Okay.” Zheng Xiaoyue didn’t press further, while Pei Yuner’s thoughts were solely on the meal ahead.
Eventually, Zheng Xiaoyue escorted Pei Yuner to the buffet.
As Pei Yu walked past the Ke family’s table, sure enough, someone called out, “Pei Yu?” just as he’d anticipated.
