Chapter 9: My grandmother is ill...
"Human, you have nowhere to run. Surrender, and I shall leave your body intact," the dragon growled, a malevolent expression on its face as it unleashed another blast of dragon breath.
The breath was too fast for her to avoid. Desperately, the woman conjured an ice lotus behind her to block the attack.
The beam struck the ice lotus, causing a violent explosion. Shards flew everywhere as cracks rapidly spread across the lotus. The ice managed to halt the beam for a few moments before shattering, allowing the beam to break through and continue its path.
A trail of blood trickled from her mouth, staining the veil covering her face. The backlash from the shattering ice injured her, but it also brought her a few precious moments to evade the dragon's breath.
The dragon's attacks grew more ferocious as it closed the gap, and it would soon catch up with her. Though the chase had lasted only a short time, she was already nearly exhausted.
If this continued, she wouldn't be able to hold on for long.
As her desperation grew, she noticed a white dot in the distance. Focusing her gaze, she saw a young man floating in the air, watching them intently.
This shocked her greatly. Why was a human in this place? Judging by his strong aura, he must be powerful.
Hope shone in her eyes. Regardless of why this man was here, she could use his help to get rid of the dragon.
Although humans are sometimes more dangerous than beasts, this was her only hope in this desperate situation.
"Human, you are at the end of your rope. You dare to disturb my sleep and steal my treasure? Hmph! I will rip your body to... What?!" the dragon arrogantly declared, but then it suddenly noticed something or perhaps someone.
"Shit!" The dragon also noticed the young man. It was more knowledgeable than the woman. It quickly gave up on chasing the woman and turned around to flee.
Damn it, how could it forget whose territory this was?! It was all that human's fault. If she hadn't disturbed its sleep, causing it to forget such an important detail, it wouldn't have set foot in this place!
The dragon was well aware that there was a monster in this place that had slain all the powerful beasts, and it didn't dare to approach it. However, in its abrupt awakening and enraged state, it failed to pay attention to the direction it was heading.
"Hmm? Trying to run?" Yun Wuji made a grabbing motion in the air, and a giant silver hand appeared and seized the fleeing dragon, dragging it toward him.
"Lord! Lord! I didn't mean to offend you, please be merciful!" The dragon struggled and begged for its life, all its previous arrogance vanished like smoke.
Yun Wuji ignored the dragon's plea, continuing to drag it along. He had no interest in conversation; who would bother talking to their food?
The dragon struggled intensely, but how could a puny Sky Profound Realm resist Wuji's strength? In the end, the dragon was unwillingly brought in front of him.
On the other hand, the woman watched everything from the side, stupefied.
The dragon that had been moments away from taking her life was dealt with so easily as if it were nothing more than an ant to Yun Wuji.
"Who is this man?" she wondered, observing his youthful appearance. "He doesn't seem that old. Wait! Perhaps he's an old monster maintaining his youth."
"Lord spare my life! I still have children at home, and my grandmother is ill, if I die no one would take care of them," the dragon shamelessly begged the man.
The woman looked on speechlessly at the dragon, who had been so arrogant earlier, now shamelessly begging for its life.
The dragon, however, didn't feel ashamed of its actions. The man before it had slain beasts far stronger than itself, so what harm was there in begging for its life? Compared to those beasts, what could it amount to?
"You are interesting. Unfortunately for you, I am hungry," Yun Wuji finally replied to the dragon. Without waiting for more nonsense, he aimed two fingers at the dragon. A sharp sword light shot towards it, cleanly severing its head from its neck.
Thud!
With a loud bang, the dragon fell to the ground. Dealing with the dragon, Yun Wuji turned his attention to the woman not far from him.
He looked her up and down and couldn't help but admit she was beautiful. Although the veil obscured him from seeing her face, this didn't prevent him from admiring her figure and temperament.
"Senior, thank you for your help." The woman quickly bowed, expressing her gratitude, but she kept her distance from him.
Whether it was because he was a man or simply because he was a stranger, the woman didn't feel comfortable getting closer.
"Senior?" Hearing her address him this way, Wuji felt confused.
"I was looking for dragon meat, and I helped you in passing, no need to mention it," he waved his hand dismissively. It wasn't a big deal for him; what interested him more was the woman in front of him.
Having been in this place for months without speaking to a single human being, it was inevitable that he would feel a bit bored and lonely.
"Senior, regardless of what you think, I will remember your life-saving grace. If I can, I'll
repay you in the future," she said with a bow, expressing her gratitude. Despite her words, her
demeanor was cold.
"Whatever you like," Wuji shrugged.
"Then I will not disturb you any longer," The woman nodded and turned to leave.
"Leaving so quickly?" he muttered in surprise, but he didn't stop her. Since she wasn't
interested in staying, he wouldn't try to keep her. While he did want to talk to someone, it didn't mean he would beg them to stay.
Although her Profound Ice Skills reminded him of the Frozen Cloud Immortal Palace's Frozen Cloud Arts, he wouldn't try to keep her forcefully.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The woman sighed in relief when she saw that Yun Wuji did not attempt to keep her. His strength was undeniable, and if he had wanted to make her stay, she wouldn't have been able
to resist.
After the woman left, Yun Wuji descended to the ground where the dragon had fallen. Cooking had not been a skill he had honed in his previous life, but since coming to this world, he had picked it up as a habit.
It was quite interesting, especially when he used his mastery of fire and the Sky Poison Pearl to cook. The process felt more like refining medicine than traditional cooking. Between his fingers, a sharp sword light gathered, and he walked over to the dragon, skillfully beginning to dissect it.
His movements flowed with a grace that resembled an elegant dance, each cut precise and deliberate. The blade sliced through the dragon's meat with exquisite skill, leaving no scrap wasted, as if every slice was meticulously planned to extract the most from the dragon's body. When he finished, all that remained was a pile of white bones. Wuji waved his hand and stored them away; the marrow could be used later.
He retrieved his cooking utensils and meticulously began preparing the meal.
Soon, a tantalizing aroma filled the air.
"Hmm, as expected of me, it looks delicious," Yun Wuji nodded in satisfaction as he placed
the dishes on the table.
When he was about to eat, Yun Wuji noticed someone approaching him.
"Why are there so many suicidal fools today?" Wuji stood up and looked ahead.
"Oh? Interesting~" The woman in white who had left earlier was flying back towards him.
She flew in disarray, her movements unsteady and faltering and her white clothes were stained with blood.
"Senior..." As she approached him, she collapsed before she could finish her plea, losing consciousness.
