Chapter 187: Multiple Personalities
That was Gu Zhaoyue's face.
Gu Nan slowly turned around. His face seemed a little surprised, but he also seemed to be expecting it and had a calm look in his eyes.
The wound on his body was slowly healing, but the speed wasn’t fast because Gu Nan didn’t have the Dawn Sage’s Robe on him.
The Morningstar Plane was quite unfriendly to reincarnators.
This was because it made reincarnators into Heroic Spirits, so it was almost impossible for reincarnators to bring their items and equipment over, which was why very few reincarnators were willing to come here.
Gu Nan couldn’t bring any of his nice equipment with him either. He could only rely on skills.
Besides his core skill the Power of Shadows, Gu Nan also had Resistance, Blink, and Righteous Judgment, almost all of which had extraordinary uses.
But Gu Zhaoyue was right about one thing. Righteous Judgment couldn’t be used at will.
Most of the player skills in the Evil God game had no cooldown, but there were other limitations.
Resistance was a passive skill, so it didn’t need to be mentioned. Blink required energy consumption, and Righteous Judgment was limited by the skill mechanism.
Righteous Judgment could only be used once on a particular target.
A veteran player like Gu Nan had already memorized the characteristics of each skill in his heart, but right now, he turned his attention to Seventh Brother—or Gu Zhaoyue.
"The fruit’s power protected your last strand of consciousness?" Gu Nan looked at him and raised a brow slightly.
If he thought about it, that was the only possibility—Gu Zhaoyue was drawn into the fusion of the moon thrall kings and took Seventh Brother’s place.
Gu Zhaoyue’s body was still making some abnormal noises, as though some kind of power was stirring inside him.
"Perhaps." There was only cold indifference on his face. "My Lord, did you ever predict that I would turn into this?"
Gu Nan sneered and responded with a sword without any hesitation.
This sword cut Gu Zhaoyue apart easily, but the latter seemed unharmed, and his cut body recovered in the blink of an eye.
"The true king of the moon thralls has an almost immortal constitution. Ordinary methods can't kill him at all!" The moon spirit shouted at Gu Nan.
No matter how many evil things Gu Nan had done before, right now the king of the moon thralls was the biggest enemy.
Gu Nan rolled his eyes: ‘Then why don’t you tell me how to kill him?!’
The coldness on Gu Zhaoyue's face grew, but just as he was about to make a move, his expression began to twist again. Not only did his facial muscles start contorting, but even his body twisted strangely.
Gu Nan took the opportunity to stab him a few more times, but that obviously didn't work either.
Moments later, Gu Zhaoyue’s eyes were blood red when he looked up again, and there was no intelligence in them at all.
As before, he roared angrily and lunged at them like a monster. His speed and strength didn’t lose out to Gu Nan’s at all.
So Gu Nan substituted himself, and his figure instantly turned into a shadow clone that was directly smashed by Gu Zhaoyue, while his original body appeared hundreds of meters away.
Gu Zhaoyue smashed into the shadow clone, but he didn't continue to look for Gu Nan's trouble. He seemed to have gone crazy and kept roaring up at the sky.
Lin Duo and Tian Tian had pale expressions. Only Lin Ke maintained some composure. She whispered to her two companions, "Come on, let's go!"
She wanted to leave with her sister a long time ago. If it weren't for Lin Duo's insistence on rescuing Tian Tian, she wouldn't be in this situation right now.
However, the second she opened her mouth, Gu Zhaoyue, who looked like a crazed demon, suddenly turned his head back, his crimson eyes landing on Lin Ke.
Lin Ke, whose back was facing him, felt chills all along her spine. She seemed to have fallen into an icy cellar, unable to say another word.
The next instant, under Lin Duo's horrified gaze, Gu Zhaoyue instantly appeared behind Lin Ke, grabbed Lin Ke's body from behind, and opened his mouth wide to bite down.
Although he was only the size of a normal human, his mouth was about half the size of his face when he opened his jaws. When he bit down, over half of Lin Ke’s head was bitten off.
Two-thirds of Lin Ke’s face ruptured, and a dazed expression could still be seen in her remaining half of an eyeball.
"Sis… Sister…” Lin Duo’s entire person froze. Her hands seemed to be shaking, or her whole body was shaking.
Gu Zhaoyue had completely lost his mind, and the beast-like personality of the moon thralls had gained the upper hand at this time.
He ate up Lin Ke’s body in a few bites, let out a howl of excitement again, then opened his maw to lunge at Lin Duo.
"Lin Duo!" A loud scream rang out. Tian Tian suddenly rushed up and pushed Lin Duo away, blocking Gu Zhaoyue with her eyes shut tightly.
The extreme pain she imagined didn't come. She opened her eyes carefully, only to see Gu Zhaoyue sniffing her face.
His eyes still emitted a scarlet light, but his expression seemed to be confused. He was sniffing with his nose, as if Tian Tian was a very delicious food.
Tian Tian suddenly had a creepy feeling, but before she could move, Gu Zhaoyue’s expression changed again.
What appeared this time was an expression Tian Tian was familiar with.
He raised his hand, scratched his head, and smiled a frank smile—even if his face changed, Tian Tian could still recognize him… This was Big Brother!
"Is… is that you?" Tian Tian asked in disbelief.
She never could’ve imagined that Big Brother’s consciousness still wouldn’t disappear, even after being torn apart and eaten.
Big Brother waved at her as the red light in his eyes gradually faded away. He smiled, then pointed behind Tian Tian.
"Are you telling us to leave quickly?"
Big Brother’s intelligence seemed to have improved drastically after becoming the true king of the moon thralls. He understood Tian Tian's words and nodded after a pause.
Tian Wei hesitated for a moment, then finally turned around, trying to help Lin Duo up.
But as she turned around, the look on Big Brother’s face began to change again, and he roared wildly. The red light in his eyes reappeared, and he started to bite down towards Tian Tian's neck again.
Tian Tian was too scared to move. The fangs finally stopped in front of her neck, making her hairs stand on end.
She turned her head with difficulty and saw that Big Brother’s face would sometimes be ferocious, sometimes soft, and sometimes simple and honest.
"Go…" A simple word came out of his mouth, but before Tian Tian could speak, another figure appeared beside them—it was Gu Nan.
Gu Nan pushed Big Brother’s head down, and sharp fangs instantly pierced into Tian Tian.
Big Brother’s furious roar rang out. Gu Nan threw a punch without looking, hitting Big Brother, who was pouncing at him, in the face and sending the latter flying.
By the time Big Brother flew back again, Tian Tian had already crumpled to the ground while holding her neck. The moon thrall’s infection was crazily eating away at her body and soul.
Big Brother’s personality finally got the upper hand completely, and he knelt with empty eyes, looking at Tian Tian on the ground.
Only Gu Nan had a faint smile. He was waiting—waiting for Tian Tian to change.
