Chapter 164: Hunt
"Mr. Gu Nan, you’re really… really too much!"
Lin Duo's two eyebrows were so furrowed that they almost fused together. She glared at Gu Nan furiously, her little face red with anger.
Gu Nan shrugged noncommittally as he sat on a chair in front of Lin Duo's desk, while the faceless woman had been tossed aside. She currently had her head down, afraid to speak.
This was Master Zhang’s Heroic Spirit. She had acquired rudimentary awareness, but she was still far from being able to act independently.
So as long as Master Zhang wanted to save his Heroic Spirit, he must come here—this level of Heroic Spirit wouldn’t be able to withstand the cost of an emergency summon back to her summoner’s side.
Seeing that Gu Nan didn’t talk, Lin Duo could only sulk in the corner, but she couldn’t help her curiosity and soon ran to the faceless Heroic Spirit again.
Fear came from the unknown. Lin Duo didn’t feel so afraid anymore once she realized that this was just a strange-looking Heroic Spirit.
After all, many monster-type Heroic Spirits had the faceless woman beat in the terrifying appearances department.
Classmate Lin Duo, who was full of curiosity, poked the face of the faceless Heroic Spirit when she was sure that the Heroic Spirit didn’t dare to move.
"Hey… It's very elastic!" Lin Duo exclaimed with some pleasant surprise.
The faceless Heroic Spirit was captured by Gu Nan, so naturally she didn't dare to resist. She didn't have facial features either, so she couldn't even make scary faces to intimidate Lin Duo. She could only draw circles on the ground with bitterness.
"Faceless monster—a rare kind of Heroic Spirit. Their faces are the best defensive weapons, which can absorb most of the damage," Gu Nan explained. He didn’t read all those books in the library for nothing.
As he spoke, he also raised a hand casually, and a small black dagger immediately shot out and sank into the faceless monster’s face.
The faceless monster seemed to whimper, although nobody knew where the sound came from. Some light blue crystalline liquid oozed out of the part that had been stabbed by the small sword. It didn’t look scary. On the contrary, it looked rather beautiful.
The black dagger gradually turned into a shadow and dissipated, and the faceless monster’s wound healed quickly, as if it had never been hurt. Only a few drops of blue liquid on the ground proved that the earlier scene had happened.
Lin Duo, however, felt her mouth twitch a few times. She suddenly lost any interest in researching the unknown and hurriedly gave up.
Moments later, Gu Nan slowly opened his eyes, then picked up the faceless monster with one hand and said to Lin Duo, "I'm going to see someone. See you the day after tomorrow."
"Ah! S-See you the day after tomorrow…" Lin Duo didn’t fully process Gu Nan’s words yet and just replied subconsciously, but Gu Nan's figure had already disappeared without a trace.
Just then, there was a gentle knock on her door, and her sister's head poked in.
"Time to eat, silly Little Sister… Huh, why is your room so messy?" Lin Ke looked at her in confusion.
Only then did Lin Duo exclaim loudly. She remembered what she forgot to do… She actually didn’t call her older sister up to meet Mr. Gu Nan!
……
Night had fallen, and Gu Nan, carrying a faceless monster with one hand, jumped rapidly from roof to roof.
It wasn't until he passed a house that he suddenly stopped. With a vertical jump, he broke through the roof and landed inside the house.
Inside the house, Master Zhang was gaping at all this.
"You…" He watched Gu Nan land expressionlessly, still clutching his faceless Heroic Spirit with one hand, and hurriedly pleaded, "My Lord, please show mercy!"
He jumped up and said quickly, "This humble one is Zhang Yibai. I'm here with information on Heavenly King Corporation’s Han family!"
A faint smile finally appeared on Gu Nan's expressionless face. "You’re a smart person… Tell me."
Hear Gu Nan, Zhang Yibai finally sighed in relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He knew that in front of true powerhouses, it was meaningless to beg for mercy or threaten them. His only key to survival was to tell them the information they wanted.
If not for his reluctance to part with his Heroic Spirit, he wouldn’t have run here full of wishful thinking. As it turned out, he was caught before he even decided to show himself.
"Mr. Han Jun is the grand Heroic Spirit summoner of Heavenly King Corporation. His 70th birthday is in half a month. Han Feng only wanted to buy the item from Miss Lin Duo because he planned to prepare a birthday present for his grandfather."
Zhang Yibai explained Han Feng's goal in the simplest words.
Gu Nan frowned and asked, "What's the item in Lin Duo's hands?"
Zhang Yibai gave him a careful look and whispered, "It's a young naturally formed Heroic Spirit."
Understanding flashed through Gu Nan's eyes, and he nodded slightly. Naturally formed Heroic Spirits were very rare, and correspondingly, most of them were powerful, so they were valuable commodities.
But…
"How did you guys know that Lin Duo has this?" Gu Nan asked.
"That, I don't know…" Zhang Yibai shook his head, but when he saw Gu Nan's frown, he hurriedly added, "But the Han family must know. After all, Han Feng was acting on his father's orders."
"Take me there,” Gu Nan said as he threw the faceless monster to Zhang Yibai.
Zhang Yibai agreed immediately, his thumping heart finally settling down. In his opinion, he had passed the most dangerous phase. At least this one wouldn’t kill him easily anymore.
This Master Zhang, who grew up in the slums, had always been proud of his ability to understand people.
He didn’t have any enmity or grudge with this Lord; rather, it was the Han family who had any enmity with him!
‘As long as I’m willing to switch to his side and help him deal with the trouble known as the Han family, then I might even be able to turn this disaster into a blessing…’
‘This is a Tier 3 bigshot, at the same level as the Han family’s elder, after all!’
……
In an elegant villa in the center of the city, a middle-aged man in indigo pajamas was sitting on a sofa, a naked girl with light makeup in his arms.
The young girl plastered her body to the middle-aged man's hand and let him play with her, laughing softly. "Boss Han, you…"
Before she finished speaking, she was interrupted by a ringtone from Boss Han’s cell phone.
Han Zong, who was originally in high spirits, immediately frowned a little when he saw the number displayed on his mobile phone, waving for the girl to step aside.
The girl flattened her mouth in displeasure but didn’t dare to say anything, so she scooted aside, still naked. Only then did Boss Han pick up the phone.
"Well, Zhang Yibai, have you found that brat Han Feng’s whereabouts?" Boss Han asked as soon as the call connected, without even waiting for the other side to speak.
"I’ve found him, but…" Zhang Yibai's voice faltered a little. "The situation is a little complicated. I'd better tell you in person."
Boss Han was concerned about his son, so he couldn’t spare the energy to waste any words on Zhang Yibai. He said impatiently, "Then what are you waiting for? Come over quickly; I’m at home.”
But he didn’t hear the expected agreement. After a slight pause on the other side of the phone, Boss Han heard Zhang Yibai say some strange words.
"My Lord, it's confirmed. He's at home…"
Boss Han stared blankly. Before his brain fully processed those words, his window glass had already shattered, and two figures stepped into his home.
One of them was a young man in a gray suit, with a bone-deep cold indifference on his face, while the other was Zhang Yibai, who had just talked with him on the phone.
Boss Han seemed to understand something, and a chill began to appear in his heart.
