"Interesting!" Mr. Nian commented as he drank a mouthful of tea. 

"For the first question, the answer is simple- Free Labor! They are actually exploiting the fact that the people love the city hence would be unwilling to abandon it. Giving slight incentives towards these people will make them think that the Guild or the person behind the Guild is generous, it would make them feel that fighting in the Beast Tide is something that they should be doing and is the right thing to do."

"However, in truth, the punishment of immediate execution upon those who flee would actually not be implemented right away. As during that time, everyone will be busy fighting with Beasts and no one will be able to enforce that rule unless it was really their plan from the start- to kill people wantonly. But I don't think the Adventurers Guild has such thoughts… maybe?"

Mr. Nian finished another cup of tea and spoke, "There are various ways on how to deal with the problem you mentioned. However, the easiest solution should be to directly escape before the start of the Beast Tide." 

After a momentary pause, Mr. Nian continued, "As for another option, if you are strong enough and resist the so-called punishment with bruteforce, then you shouldn't have any problem. However, I do not recommend this as I personally know how terrifying the Guard Commander is."

"The next one, well,l you can send a proxy in the battle to fight for you and as long as no one finds out, you will be safe..."

After another three cups of tea, Mr. Nian finally finished talking. 

Ban received and learned a lot of information from Mr. Nian. 

Although he doesn't have a clear solution yet, he could now at least see a light at the end of the problem that was bugging him since the day he assumed a second identity. 

At first he really did not think deeply about it. He forgot that every Adventurer that registered would need to fight the Beast Tide. Unfortunately, he knew that he would not be able to do it with both of his persona. 

He was already actually prepared to abandon the Leon persona if he really could not find any solution. It was also the reason why he dared to ask it bluntly towards Mr. Nian. 

He actually did not expect to receive such a detailed and thorough answer from him. It looks like Mr. Nian was already thinking about this matter for a long time. 

Mr. Nian also revealed to him that it was only in Eagle City that they were forcing their people to fight for the city. Most of the cities around the Sky Empire and the neighboring empire do not have such strict rules. 

He said that this rule was actually set way back at the founding of the city. He revealed that the ancestor who founded the city was actually a person who flee from another city that was also constantly besieged by Beasts and in order to not let the people betray the city, the ancestor set such a strict rule. 

Of course, throughout the years, there were times that such oppression caused massive damage instead of helping the situation, that was why as of today, the rule of immediate execution was only a formality or in other words, just empty talks. 

Mr. Nian said that at most, those who escaped during the day of the battle, as long as they did not fully betray the city would only need to be imprisoned and fined a fee if they were caught. 

"Thank you for the valuable information and lessons, Mr. Nian!" Ban sat up from the ground and bowed slightly towards Mr. Nian. 

His matter has more or less been settled that he got those various pieces of information. Although the Pure River Water wasn't guaranteed yet, he at least already had another clue on where to obtain them. 

Greed's cooldown has also already ended but he doesn't have any plan on using it today. He will go to the Death Swamp tomorrow, hunt that Beast that he asked from Mr. Nian and then look if he could get lucky enough and obtain Pure River Water there.

Mr. Nian also stood up from the seat after finishing the cup of tea in his hands. 

'Finally!' Mr. Nian thought cheerfully inside his heart. 

He could not forget the crushing defeat of his favorite game today no matter how he distracted himself from those thoughts. Every time he looked at Leon, he would always recall those scenes where he was crushed ruthlessly on the game he was quite proud of having a skill. 

He could only try to drink as much tea as possible to calm his heart and not let any tear fall from the corner of his eyes. 

"Likewise, Mr. Leon…" 

He hesitated for a moment before continuing, "The chess battle was fun..." 

"Indeed!" Ban nodded his head as he turned around preparing to leave. 

'Indeed my ass, you crushed me thoroughly. You have strength to spare while I was only dancing in your palm the entire time, sigh the disparity in our chess skills are terrifying. I should not offer free information after getting defeated by chess from now on. Sigh what a waste of daily income, a whopping 5000 Gold Coins lost just because of a game,' Mr. Nian grumbled grievely inside him as he escorted Ban and Joana towards the door. 

Woof! 

The mountain dog wanted to follow them but it was stopped by Mr. Nian. 

After the door was closed, Mr. Nian ran towards the table and took out a notebook from under it. 

'I must record all of the moves and tactics he used…' 

His hand rapidly wrote the various moves that Ban used to defeat him earlier. 

'So what if I can't defeat you? I'll just study your moves and use it on others instead…' 

Meanwhile, a guard leads Ban and Joana out of the establishment. 

They passed by the bar earlier and as expected, the bunch of women was still dancing seductively atop the platform to perform for the various guests who kept throwing Gold Coins to them 

Ban caught a glimpse of a woman who was naked in the upper body and he could not help but to instinctively look away. His heart skipped a beat and the next thing he noticed, Joana was already walking beside him while observing his head movement clearly. 

'Forget it!' Ban decided to turn around and forget the thing he saw. 

His heart should not be swayed by temptations, he must resist them until he is already strong enough to defend and avenge himself. 

A moment later they returned to the busy Black Market earlier. It was still quiet even though the street was filled with people donning masks while transacting. 

Joana explained to him that if he wanted to come back here in the future, he could only do so with a passcode. 

The establishment was just a brothel from what the outside knew but nevertheless it was still secretive and did not let just anyone enter without permission. 

In order to enter, one would need to purchase a passcode or a subscription to them. Joana bought hers more five years ago and they gave her a random passcode, which was the Birth Control. 

Before they left the brothel, Joana updated the status of her passcode and made it as shareable to upto two persons. 

Ban did not decline it as he didn't know if he would still need to come here in the future. 

They then left the black market in a quiet manner and after a while, they arrived at Joana's store again. 

Before entering Joana turned around towards Ban and said, "Mr. Leon, I think it would be better for you to just flee in advance before the Beast Tide even started. I know that you just arrived in the city but the Beast Tide is really dangerous, especially so for Gold Rank Adventurers just like me and you." 

"I hope that you can leave the city as soon as possible!" Joana said again before heading inside her store. Her Hairless Cat was still evolving and she had already taken a huge risk of leaving it behind for a few hours. 

Ban stood outside her door for a few moments before he left. 

He doesn't know why Joana was telling that to him but he knew that she doesn't have any bad intentions towards him. He felt that she was somehow genuine on her request. 

However, he did not make any decision yet as he was still thinking of any possible solution for his current problem. 

Maybe he could send a proxy to act as Leon but he should not be someone who is weak. It should be a person who was also at least a Gold Rank Adventurer like him. 

Unfortunately, it also means that he would need to pay that person a huge price. 

Thinking about it, he immediately crossed the idea out of his mind as he started thinking of another solution based on the informations he obtained from Mr. Nian. 

He went towards a dark corner and changed back to his normal appearance. He also let Eva transform back to her normal form before he went out again. 

He thought of the Daily Mission and decided to run back towards the Adventurers Guild. He doesn't want to fail the Daily Quest again, at least not for now as he still needs to strengthen himself before having the courage to face those monstrosities. 

Almost half an hour later, Ban arrived at the Adventurers Guild and at the same time, a System screen appears in front of his eyes signifying that he has already completed his daily mission.
