Volume 3 Chapter 30: I Don’t Want To Eat!
"Alright, let's get something to eat," Sophia clapped her hands. The family talked a lot. It was time to get something to eat. The others nodded. Like that, everyone arrived at the dining room.
"You're sitting here," Sophia stated as she saw how Laura was about to sit next to Keith.
"I want to sit with Big Brother!" Laura stared at Sophia.
"Then you can take a seat next to me and him," Sophia smiled.
"?" What's going on? Keith didn't know what was going on as he sat down. There was a weird tension.
"What has Gus prepared?" Keith questioned one of the maids. With how long he was gone, Gus should have sharpened his skills.
"Gus has prepared a seared steak today with brussell sprouts on the side." The maid answered as it was brought out.
"Awesome," Keith and the others looked down at the seared steak. Keith smiled as he cut into it. A perfect medium rare. Gus did good. Keith ate the steak.
It was tasty. And the others seemed to like it as well. Well, there was one person who didn't.
"Ugh,"
"What's the matter, Laura?" Keith looked over to Laura.
"Hate them," Laura stated. She had a disgusted expression as she stared at the brussels sprouts.
"You have to eat them," Before Keith could ask, Sophia had spoken.
"I don't want to," Laura stared back.
"You're eating it," Sophia gave a deadly smile.
Huh? Keith was surprised that Sophia would be this angry. She was really soft on her children. It was rare for her to be this angry. So he was surprised this was happening. He turned to William and the others, who shook their heads.
He looked across to Alvin, asking him for an explanation.
"Laura hasn't been eating her vegetables," Alvin explained.
"But she ate them before," Keith remembered. She may not like them, but she still ate them.
"She had. But once you left, that all stopped," Alvin grabbed his head.
"..." Wasn't that like a month ago?
"...And the two have been fighting like this?" Keith questioned.
"Mmhmm,"
"You have to eat it," Sophia repeated.
"No!" Laura shook her head.
"Laura," Sophia glared at the child. Laura shivered as she quickly grabbed onto Keith. The man was a hero to her!
Keith patted her head, "Laura, you know eating vegetables will help you grow, right?"
"Mmhmm," Laura nodded,
"Then why don't you have a bite," Keith questioned.
"But it doesn't taste good!" Laura stated.
"Oh," Keith looked down at the brussels sprouts. He understood why she didn't like it. This vegetable didn't suit a child's taste. It had a lot of nutrients. But it had a bitter taste.
"How about I make it taste better?" Keith suggested.
"Really?" Laura blinked. She didn't believe he could make it taste better.
"Have I lied to you before?" Keith tilted his head.
"No," Laura shook her head. Whenever Keith made a promise, he would keep it.
"Alright," Keith got up from the table, "I will be back," Like that, Keith entered the kitchen,
"Boss, you're here. Are you planning to cook?"
"Mmhmm," Keith nodded,
"Is it because of the young lady's hate for vegetables?" Gus questioned.
"Yep. You know about it?"
"Please save me!" Gus slapped his hand onto Keith's shoulders.
"Huh?"
"I can't get the young lady to eat any vegetables no matter how hard I try!" Gus didn't know what to do. He made some vegetables for her to eat. But she didn't!
She refused to eat any vegetables!
His mind was hurting from the thought of what to cook. Sophia said to cook more vegetables for her. But the child continued to refuse.
"Leave it to me," Keith sighed as he got to work. From what I heard, it seemed brussels sprouts are the problem.
That was the one vegetable Laura refused to eat.
"Hmm, I guess I should do something different," Keith stated in a calm voice.
"How are you going to do that?" Gus watched from the sidelines, curious about what Keith would do.
"I'm going to roast them instead," Keith answered. He quickly took out a metal sheet. Keith cut the brussels sprouts in half and placed them into a bowl. He started to shake them around and tossed some seasoning into the bowl, coating it.
Keith poured the sprouts onto the metal sheet, spreading them apart from the other. He placed it into the oven to let it roast.
"We just need to wait now."
"Does roasting vegetables change the flavors?" Gus questioned.
"Mmhmm. It does change the flavor and the textures of vegetables. I'll let you taste first," Keith smiled as they waited. While he did that,
"Laura, Leon, what's the matter?" Keith questioned. He saw Laura and Leon standing by the door,
