Volume 3 Chapter 24: What Is He Planning To Do?
"Keith, you beat a proctor," Gabriel stated.
"Yes, I did," Keith nodded.
"Why are you acting like this isn't normal?"
"Is it?" The proctor was another person. It was normal for them to be beaten.
Gabriel retorted, "Can you really say that? Look at the others," He pointed at all the other people. Their expressions said it all. They were shocked by what had happened.
"Has anyone defeated an instructor before?"
"This might be the first!"
"That was a fluke!"
Hearing all their murmurs, beating an instructor was not the standard. Keith shrugged as he went and sat down.
The only thing he needed to do was to rest. While he waited, Keith understood why the others were giving him a strange look. The instructor wiped out 10 students in under 5 minutes!
They were obliterated. The instructor wasn't holding back at all. The students continued to go forward.
It was the same result.
They didn't stand a chance. Once they tried to make a move, the instructor would obliterate them!
It seemed I really didn't need to beat him. What he saw was some people running away from the instructor instead. They passed based on this.
"Good job out there," Gabriel walked over to Keith. Keith handed him some water.
"Thanks." Gabriel drank the water and stated, "But he's much stronger than when you fought him." His fight with him only lasted almost three minutes, much longer than the others.
"I think what you did made him angry," Gabriel joked.
Keith scoffed, "I think it's because these guys think he was weak," That was not his fault. What Keith did might have given the others blind confidence. Since a student beat the proctor, they could do the same! But they were so wrong.
The proctor went crazy and knocked them all out without a thought. The proctor's strength was incredible. It didn't take long before everyone was done.
"The rankings are on the board," Like that, it was shown clearly. Keith was in first place again. But not only that. It was by a wide margin!
He was the only one who beat the proctor.
"Please come back tomorrow to face the final test," Aidiun said nothing as he left them. Keith and Gabriel decided to return to the inn. What they didn't know was that Keith became the talk of the Academy!
"Did you hear?! A proctor was defeated!"
"What?! Who was the one who did it!"
While the students talked about it, the proctors who handed the tests were mulling.
"You were holding back, right?" One of the proctors questioned. He couldn't believe a proctors would lose to a 15-year-old. It sounded unbelievable.
But the person who fought Keith shook his head, "I wasn't. The test was to display the difference between us and the kids," What this test tried to prove was to show how much they had to learn. Overwhelm them with force! But,
"That kid was able to hold his own against me." Keith was throwing punches against him. Unlike the majority of the students, he was the one fighting back. He added,
"He also took advantage of my thought of him being only a student."
The proctor thought of Keith as a regular student. But Keith was more than that. He used that advantage to surprise him and catch him off guard.
"He's the outlier of the century." One of the proctors noted. There was no need to look at a person like this. There was no need to talk about him any longer.
"What about the magic exam? How is that?" They should go through everything step by step.
"There were a lot who did fine. But the one who shined the most besides the outlier is the Elven princess." Aidiun stated as he continued,
"She cleared the most targets out of everyone. But she wasted a lot of mana."
"I see," The instructors nodded their heads. But then one questioned, "Who has the higher ability in magic?" He was definitely talking about Keith and the princess.
Aidiun shook his head, "I don't know. Contestant 84 wasn't going all out."
"Eh?"
"He used the most minimal magic power to destroy the target," Keith wasn't like the others. He held back. Unlike the others who used all AOE attacks, Keith focused on accuracy and targeting them.
"..." He was holding back? The proctors had no words to say.
"But we need to figure out how to rate them," The instructors shook their heads.
"I have a way to test all of them," Everyone turned to Cadmus, who had a devious expression. What is this person planning to do?! It was something they were scared about.
