Volume 3 Chapter 22:  1stplace

Keith had his sword right at Gabriel's neck. Any closer would have nicked him. Gabriel placed his hand in the air,

"I lost,"

"Phew," Keith sighed as he placed his sword down.

He looked at Gabriel, "I almost lost." It was a close battle between the two. Gabriel was much faster than him. If this was a long battle, Keith would have lost.

Gabriel stated, "But I was the one who lost still," A loss was a loss. Keith sighed as he walked up to the well to grab some water. While he did that,

"You want?"

"I'm going to go change in my room," Gabriel stated as he returned to their room.

"Gotcha," Keith didn't mind as he wiped the sweat off his face. But while he did this, he turned to the window,

"Did the two of us cause too much noise?"

"No!"

"You didn't cause any trouble at all!"

What was near the window were girls. It was something to be expected. The girls quickly make a break back for their rooms. Keith shook his head as he wiped the sweat off his face.

...

After getting the food, the two headed to the academy. The two had to check whether or not they had passed or not.

"There's already a group here," Gabriel laughed.

"We can wait," The two waited a bit before the board started to change! The numbers glowed. The ones in the red were those who failed. The yellow ones were those who passed.

"The two of us passed," Keith high-fived Gabriel's hand. The two numbers were glowing yellow.

"Wait a minute, it's changing again," Gabriel noticed the numbers were changing. The yellow names started to swirl around!

And it was ranked!

"Keith, you're first!" Gabriel stated as he saw the numbers. What he saw was Keith's number in the first place!

"You're third as well," Keith noted. Keith was in first, but Gabriel wasn't far away. He was in third place!

"You should be more surprised." Gabriel noticed how Keith was so calm about this.

"I don't really care if I'm first. As long as we pass, I'm good," What mattered was passing.

Gabriel agreed to that.

"Those who passed the second stage, go to the right hall!" A proctor stated.

"Guess we should go," The people who passed walked towards the hall. As they were waiting, Aidiun returned,

"The next test will be focused on your magic abilities. Each person will be sent to a different room." Aidiun explained. Keith turned to Gabriel,

"Good luck in there,"

"You too," The two went into different rooms. Keith looked around. Kinda reminds me of where the gods took me. It was a white room.

Aidiun's voice resounded the room, "The test is simple. You only need to shoot the targets down in this room." And like that, it started!

The targets shot out from the ground,

"Hmpf!" Keith didn't hesitate as he quickly shot wind arrows at the targets.

The targets exploded.

"There are more?" Keith quickly shot at the targets. He kept doing it calmly.

"Guess I just need to take them out,"

...

"Contestant 84 is doing great," Aidiun commented as he stared at Keith firing at the targets. He was shooting all the targets down using wind magic.

"What do you expect? He's the best!" Cadmus smiled. And I think he's holding back too. Cadmus turned to Sohma, and the latter nodded.

The two had the same thought.

"And his partner is doing the same thing," Gabriel wasn't going down either.

"But the one who is doing the best is the princess," Aidiun stated as he stared at the princess destroying all the targets.

"Target-wise, yes. But she isn't doing good at the other things." Cadmus sighed. This test was more than destroying the targets.

...

The process took an hour before they exited the rooms. Gabriel stared at Keith, "How are you not sweating?" Gabriel had sweat coming down his forehead. But Keith looked fine and dandy!

"I don't know." Keith grinned. Keith had been practicing magic for a long time. This was the usual.

"Others would kill you for saying that," Gabriel shook his head. The others were sweating like no tomorrow.

Keith shrugged, "So the scores are going to be posted as well?" Keith wanted to find out.

"I think so," Like yesterday, it should be the same day. It was a few minutes before Aidiun came out.

He stated, "The scores are set here!"

Everyone looked at the boards.

"So they were counting the number of targets," Keith looked at the board and realized he was in the high middle of everyone here.

"Princess! You took first place!" Keith and the rest turned their heads to the two elves. So she's the one who took out the most targets.

"Wait a minute, there are more things showing!" One of the people stated. Everyone turned their heads and saw there were two other columns forming.
