Chapter 446
Chapter 446
Feifei could not believe what she was seeing and what she had just heard.
Did she just hear her best friend propose to Keith?
And while she was in disbelief, having never imagined that Rouxi would be so quick to the point, her shock only rose when she saw Keith lean in and kiss her best friend.
Here she had just asked her to not sleep with him first, and she had gone even further and asked him to marry her.
She wanted to laugh and tease the life out of her right now, but she decided to not interrupt their moment.
However, she was not going to just let this slide either.
Rouxi felt her heart fluttering as she lost herself to his taste, and the longer she kissed him, the lighter she felt in her head.
It felt so right to her, and a mysterious sense of security gave peace to her mind.
She clutched onto his shirt when she finally got the idea about how to respond to his kiss, and then she pulled him harder onto her, hungrier for his taste.
When they separated, they both closed their eyes and rested their foreheads against each other, and she could not help the smile that crept on her lips."So, do you want to get married today?" She heard him ask, and her cheeks burned up in a blush.
And it was at that moment that Feifei ran out of patience.
"Rouxi!"
The two turned to look at the princess of Wei Family, who was feigning anger as she walked over to them, folding her arms on her chest, and they both ended up laughing, causing her to lose her act.
"If you are getting married today, then I am getting married today too." She made it abundantly clear with the seriousness in her voice. "We can also have our nuptials together."
"Fei!" Rouxi embarrassedly admonished her and only received a grin in repose.
Before Feifei could tease her again, Keith lightly tapped her head, making her wince in pain.
"Dinner first." He reminded her, and the two girls finally noticed the appetising aroma of their meal.
"Lamb stew?" Feifei happily sat down and then started pouring some into her bowl, ready to devour it, and Rouxi was not shy either.
They had not eaten in over twelve hours now, and after all that training, they were practically starving.
Feifei noticed the blush on her friend's cheeks as she ate her meal, clearly thinking about what she had just done, however, she allowed her to eat in peace.
The two girls ate their fill, and then they both got up to see what Keith was up to.
They found him sitting on the porch, reading a very strange book. As they looked over his shoulder, all they found were some ever-floating inscriptions and blank pages, and they were not sure what he was really looking at.
"What are you doing?" Feifei asked, sitting by his side, and Rouxi sat on his other side.
"Reading." He smiled and she immediately pouted her lips. "It is a Cultivation Art."
"How can you read anything? There are only a few floating inscriptions and blank pages." Rouxi frowned.
"The pages are not blank." He told them. "It's just that you can not see the words on them."
"Can I see it..." Feifei tried to grab it from his hand but he pulled it away.
"No." He told her. "It will hurt you."
His words were serious, and Feifei immediately tensed up.
"What sort of Cultivation Art is it?" Rouxi asked, feeling herself drawn to those floating inscriptions.
"It contains the Arts that even the True Gods would kill each other for." He teasingly said, but they both became tensed at his words.
"How did you find it?" Feifei frowned.
"It belongs to me." He nudged her nose and then made the Devil Sutra disappear from his hands.
"Will you be teaching it to us?" She hopefully asked.
"Sure." He nodded, and an excited smile crept on her face. "But only if you are willing to become my daughter."
"What?" She gaped at his words but then thought that she must have misheard him, but seeing that smile on his face, her heart started racing.
"How..."
"I will bestow my Blood to you, turn you into my biological and magical daughter."
"I..." She tried to make sense of his words and then became a little uneasy in her heart.
"Is Qingyue your daughter?" Rouxi frowned, and asked, causing Feifei to gape in realisation.
"Not yet. Rebecca and Kiara are my daughters though." He informed them and immediately received a response from Feifei.
"You are married to your daughters?!" She loudly asked, and he laughed at her words.
"Yes."
The two of them turned silent after his words, and though they knew that Incest was a normal practice in Ancient Families, a parent-child union was still frowned upon.
"Is it a common practice in the Heavens?"
"For some, yes, for most, no." He shook his head. "However, it is not frowned upon by the Immortal and Divine races. And there is a reason for that."
"What?"
"Soul Mates is a real thing to them." He smiled. "At the birth of every child, if there is someone within the family who is a perfect match for them, they will both be marked as mates. Separating them or forcing them away from each other could kill them or make them lose themselves. Daughters often get paired with their fathers, but the most common union is between siblings."
"They don't marry out of their families?" Feifei frowned.
"They don't really have a need to marry outside of their Family, but unions do occur between different families, mostly when they are of the same race or when a man is taking another wife, belonging to a lesser race. There are, of course, exceptions, and sometimes, some people never get marked."
"What do they do then?"
"They wait." He smiled "Or they marry whomever they desire. Inter-race unions happen too, and they are not frowned upon when the two belong to respectable races where no harm would come to their legacy and deprive their children of blessings. If Inter-Race unions did not happen, we wouldn't have so many different races. Every race can trace back their roots to some Immortal or Divine Race."
"Oh."
"Ashaya are a result of disrespectful unions between certain races, which resulted in their legacies losing their blessings." He teasingly grinned and Feifei pouted at his words before smacking her fist on his shoulder.
"You are racist!"
"I am." He nodded his head. "Which is why you can't stay an Ashaya." He smiled, and while Feifei scoffed at his words, Rouxi giggled, finding his admission quite funny.
"So, what happens when a person who isn't marked gets married and then someone is born with a mark for them?" Feifei frowned and asked as the thought crossed her mind.
"It does not happen to a woman, but it can happen to a man. And it isn't an issue."
"Why does it not happen to a woman?" She frowned.
"The Divine Laws don't bind a woman to more than one man. So, polyandry is nearly non-existent in Immortal Families and does not exist at all in Divine Families. However, there are always a few people who disregard the Laws of Nature, despite knowing its consequences, and they are unjust to themselves. But they mostly belong to lesser races."
"So, Aphrodite was not promiscuous?"
"She was." He smiled. "But she did not belong to an Immortal or Divine Family."
"Oh..."
The two remembered their conversation with Qingyue where she told them that even an Ashaya had the possibility of becoming a God if they were talented enough, so, Aphrodite must have belonged to some lesser race.
"So, women can't have multiple husbands?"
"They can." He chuckled. "But the Divine Laws don't approve of such unions. Men and Women are not created equal, and they both have advantages over the other. When a woman gives herself to a man, her Aura mingles with his Aura, and this, in turn, makes her stronger, especially if her man is stronger than her. It's even more beneficial to her if they share the same Laws or Laws that complement each other. She would find it easier to purify her Aura and make it more potent, and her path of Cultivation becomes much smoother as a result. It is so beneficial that bearing a child of a pure union makes her even stronger." He smiled. "Yes, by becoming a mother, the woman can become stronger."
"And what happens if she has multiple partners?"
"Male Auras are not compatible with each other," He replied.
"So, if she has two or more mates, then her Aura will get stained by them and they will fight against each other?" Rouxi got the gist of the idea.
"Yes. It will corrupt her Aura, making it harder for her to Cultivate. But people have created some vile Cultivation Arts where they can feed off that corruption and become stronger as a result. Mostly, lesser Races use such methods, and they are not without their consequences. They do gain strength, but it has its limits, and they eventually lose the favour of the Divine Laws, especially the Laws of Life and Spirit." He sighed. "Someone who loses the favour of those two Laws will never find peace in their hearts and they will not be able to birth or sire children afterwards."
The two remained silent at his words as they thought over them, and then Feifei frowned.
"What happens if a girl is raped? Or if she becomes a widow or gets divorced?"
"The Divine Laws don't blame them. They know everything. If they are victims, they will not face any consequences." He smiled, and she sighed in relief as she was thinking of the worst-case scenarios. "It is the same for widows. If a woman becomes a widow, and if she is not bound to her husband by a Divine Vow and a Sacred Rune of Marriage, then she can take another husband. She won't suffer any consequences. On the other hand, those who bear the Sacred Rune of marriage would never even consider it because their hearts only belong to their husbands, and they will wait for them to be born again to find them and to be with them again."
The two of them were surprised at his words and then they started asking him questions about the Sacred Rune of Marriage, and he happily answered their queries.
They were mystified by what they learned, and he could tell that they were both yearning for it now. He could see it in their eyes as they looked at him. And why wouldn't they? They were meant for each other.
"What benefits do men get by having multiple wives?" Feifei suddenly asked, returning to their previous discussion.
"None. Unless, of course, they are special, have special circumstances, or if they use a Dual Cultivation method. The reason why men take multiple wives is mostly out of desire."
"So that's why you have so many lovers." She grinned.
"Yes. I am a lustful man." He nodded his head and they both rolled their eyes at his response.
It was not what Feifei meant. They both knew that he was special, and they did not really need to hear it from him.
"And as you know, I am perfect. So, of course, I am special too."
There he went again, being as narcissistic as ever, and they both sighed at his behaviour.
Keith heartily laughed at their response and soon their conversation continued.
The three of them kept chatting for hours over what they had just talked about, and Keith clarified all their queries and even told them a few stories as examples.
And after the two girls went to their beds, he still sat there, lost in his thoughts, starting to feel a little restless in his heart as he knew that the wait would be long for the two of them.
They were both blessed by Destiny, but he still wanted to prepare them as best as possible for what awaited them in the Heavens.
