Chapter 554: Chapter 554 - Orion’s Big Mistake
Chapter 554: Chapter 554 - Orion’s Big Mistake
Orion unleashed his long-range spell as his opening move-a powerful magic skill that clearly marked him as a magic swordsman. The attack was swift, covering a large area with fierce fire-elemental damage.
This was surely his signature move, designed to overwhelm opponents with its speed and coverage.
"You've made a grave mistake choosing me as your opponent, you fool!" he declared.
However, what ran through Broken's mind was, What was Orion thinking, attacking with such reckless confidence? Did he truly underestimate me that much?
The skill's massive Mana cost indicated Orion was certain it would land perfectly to its target. "But I don't need to take this head-on. I can simply dodge."n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Broken watched the blazing phoenix spell hurtling toward him, then swiftly activated his Dash skill. Just as the fiery phoenix was about to engulf him, he darted aside, narrowly escaping its scorching path.
Orion's eyes widened as his spell missed, and fury twisted his expression. With a roar, he charged at Broken.
"Don't think you can dodge my attacks forever!"
[Water Domain (Active Skill)]
In an instant, a shimmering dome of water expanded from his body, encasing both him and Orion within its boundaries.
With fluid precision, he drew his bow and fired an arrow crafted from his Moonvine Knuckles. [Summon the Guardian (Active Skill)]
The Moonvine Knuckles arrow whistled through the air, striking Orion, and immediately, a vivid figure of a plant-based Knight materialized, landing an additional blow.
[Vines of Torment (Active Skill)]
Five massive, twisting vines erupted from the ground of the arena, coiling around Orion and binding him tightly, rendering him completely immobilized.
"Damn it!" Orion shouted.
[Sea of Storms (Active Skill)]
Without delay, Broken raised his Wavebreaker Spear high. Dozens of magic circles appeared in the sky, each summoning a spear formed from water. As they hurtled downward, the spears adjusted their trajectory upon entering his water domain, homing in on Orion. In rapid succession, every spear struck its target, hammering Orion's body relentlessly.
The crowd watched, wide-eyed and silent, mesmerized by the incredible display of skills Broken unleashed.
Orion had a range of close-combat skills, but landing a hit on Broken was proving impossible. Broken kept his distance, relentlessly attacking from afar and avoiding any close-range confrontation.
"If you've got the nerve, come at me head-on!" Orion shouted in frustration.
Ignoring his taunt, Broken pressed on, chaining his crowd-control skills while maintaining his distance.
Dendros, the summoned plant-based Knight, kept up its relentless assault, distracting Orion while thick vines continued to lash out, constraining his movements.
Casually, Broken notched another arrow and fired, keeping up his attacks with practiced ease and using his agility to dodge Orion's attempts to retaliate.
This was the first time he'd fully utilized his Bow skills in a duel, and he found himself enjoying the strategy of ranged combat.
If I can master this approach, it might be worth using ranged attacks more often, he thought.
Before Orion could regain his footing, his health bar plummeted, and he staggered, coughing up blood. His once-pristine clothing was torn to shreds, leaving him in a severely weakened state.
"Surrender and beg for your life," Broken taunted, provoking Orion further.
The crowd, tense and breathless, watched every move in the duel with rapt attention. They were finally seeing just how powerful Broken truly was in the arena-fighting with almost casual ease, while Orion seemed completely outmatched, as if Broken were toying with him. "No way! Broken is actually this strong!"
"Sure, Orion's just an NPC, but he's no ordinary one. He has huge potential and a high level too."
"Yeah, but even Orion looks like he's being played by Broken."
"I think his victory against the Forest Guardian was no fluke after all."
"Clearly, he's controlling this fight. And he hasn't even shown his full arsenal yet."
"Honestly... it doesn't seem like Orion has any chance against Broken."
"Damn! I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to admire him."
Dendros continued to keep Orion distracted, landing strikes and preventing him from reaching Broken. Seizing the opportunity, Broken swiftly pulled out his bow-the Golden Bow of Artemis-and loaded it with his Wavebreaker Spear. The onlookers gasped in disbelief.
[Explosive Arrow (Active Skill) Lv. 5]
The skill had leveled up, now boasting a shorter charging time of only four seconds. Oh ho... Broken thought with satisfaction. This skill just became ridiculously overpowered.
In a secure position, Broken could easily cast this skill for devastating damage. His Super Novice Unique-grade class truly held extraordinary potential-he began to wonder if it might even have a Legendary-grade upgrade.
The sky itself seemed to split as a colossal spear appeared from the dark, pointing down toward the arena. The crowd's eyes widened in shock.
"He's not actually going to kill Orion, is he?"
"Will Orion even survive this attack? The Gorilla Guardian took a huge hit from this skill... will
the arena itself be destroyed?"
"This is insane!"
"I'm sure Broken isn't trying to put Orion's life at risk... right?"
"But Orion could always surrender. It's his choice."
"Yes, but let's hope Broken reins it in. He wouldn't want to make an enemy out of Viscount
Sean."
Broken said in a nonchalant manner. "I'm sure you're aware of the consequences that would befall you if that giant spear were to hit you, right?"
"I just want to make it clear," he said, "that I'm not just making empty threats. I will actually
launch this spear."
[Vines of Torment (Active Skill)]
The five massive vines closed in around Orion, restraining him once again, locking him in
place for a crucial two seconds. It was all Broken needed to complete his skill's charging time
with ease.
His Mana reserves were wearing thin, preventing him from casting every skill within his Wavebreaker arsenal. But that hardly mattered-this was more than enough.
As the charge neared completion, Orion felt a surge of panic rise within him. From afar, Oriana watched with growing anxiety, casting glances at her father, silently wondering if he would
step in.
"That stubborn brother..." she muttered. "Will he really choose pride over his life?"
The knights around the arena shifted tensely, their hands on their weapons as Broken
prepared to release the spear at Orion.
Broken grinned, clearly relishing the fact that Orion hadn't begged for mercy.
In one fluid motion, he released the bowstring. The spear shot forth from his bow, cutting through the air. Simultaneously, a second colossal spear descended from the heavens, casting a shadow over the arena like a massive pillar crashing down from the sky.
