Chapter 376: - The Forest Elf and the Beast-kin

Broken logged back into Immortal Legacy and found himself in his inn room. Recalling the information and plan Subaru had shared with him, he knew he needed to catch up with Marlene to sabotage the convoy transporting slaves out of the city. Without wasting any time, he followed the plan, quickly leaving the inn and heading out through the city gates.

Mounting his Petal Charger, Broken rode swiftly through the twilight, aware that nightfall was approaching. The plan was to ambush the demon convoy under the cover of darkness, once they had moved far enough away from the city.

He halted on the far side of a small hill, where Marlene was already waiting, comfortably seated in a camping chair.

"Hi," Broken greeted her, joining her on a wooden log nearby.

"We need to wait a few more minutes, and then we can start the massacre," she said casually. "What about the others?"

"Don't worry, we can handle this one ourselves. We'll call them in if we need backup for something bigger," she replied confidently.

Something bigger? Broken wondered.

Broken and Marlene waited patiently until the convoy of demons they were targeting appeared in the distance. Broken used his Bow of Artemis to get a clearer view.

"Can you really use that bow like a telescope? Very useful, huh?" Marlene remarked. "Wanna try?" he offered, holding out the bow.

"Do you think I can just use any weapon as you do?" she replied, raising an eyebrow. "You can't?"

"Ck!" Marlene sighed in response.

As the demon convoy drew closer to their position, Broken turned to Marlene and raised his eyebrows. "Confront them head-on?"

Marlene shook her head slightly. "No need, let my beasts handle it."

"We're going to kill all of them and simply rescue the slaves?"

"No, we can leave a few of those dumb demons alive-maybe just their leader. We can interrogate them later, it'll be easier that way."

"Okay."

Broken observed the convoy from a distance again, noting their numbers-only around 17 in total, with two of them at the highest levels, around 210. The rest were even below level 200.

"We could take them out faster if we go all out," he whispered softly.

Two shadows suddenly stretched across the ground, swiftly darting away from Marlene. These were her demon beasts, concealed within the darkness. The shadows moved silently toward the demon at the rear of the convoy.

In an instant, two wolves emerged from the shadows, pouncing on the demon and dragging it back into the darkness, all without the other demons noticing.

"What do you think? Easy, right?" Marlene asked.Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"Yes, I'm sure you're quite skilled in assassination," Broken replied casually. "How many humans have you killed, huh?"

"That's certainly exclusive information, only for insiders. Are you trying to interrogate me?" she teased.

Broken simply smiled at her remark. Despite being on opposing sides—with the Shadow Wolves often engaging in player killing and hunting down residents of Dissidia Kingdom, while The Ass Guild constantly worked to mitigate the damage caused by them-here they were, on the same mission in Hell. The irony wasn't lost on him.

They both began walking through the trees, while the wolves silently picked off the demons one by one. Still, Broken couldn't shake the feeling that this could be handled more easily if they just confronted the demons head-on.

Sure, Broken wasn't eager to reveal all his skills in front of Marlene, but direct combat seemed much more appealing to him. Maybe not so much for Marlene, though, who was a beast master. Beast masters tended to rely heavily on their beasts to carry out their missions, and Marlene was no exception.

However, they couldn't keep up the silent killings forever, as the remaining demons finally noticed something was wrong and halted their convoy. Panic spread through the group, with some growing angry as they quickly drew their weapons.

"I thought you could take care of them without us breaking a sweat?" Broken remarked.

"Yes, we could have, but I know you're itching for a fight, aren't you?"

"So, what's the plan now? Confront them?"

"There are only 8 demons left, with two of them being the highest level. What do you think?"

"How many can you handle at once? I'll take the rest."

"I'll handle the lower-level guards."

"Then I'll take on their two leaders."

"You won't have trouble facing both of them at once? They're pretty strong."

"I won't even need to use my full power for this," Broken replied with a slight, confident smirk.

"You've got the arrogance of a villain, Broken. I think you'd fit in better on my side," Marlene teased.

"Nice try, Marlene."

With that, Marlene stepped out from behind the trees, running ahead to lure and split the group of demons. As expected, a few of them broke off to chase her. Meanwhile, Broken readied himself to confront the two demon leaders, poised for the battle that was about to

unfold.

He notched an arrow and began charging his skill.

[Sniper's Focus (Active Skill) Lv. 2]

It only took 2 seconds to charge the skill-a brief moment, especially since no one had noticed him. The arrow flew with precision, striking one of the demon leaders in the head and sending him crashing to the ground. The other demon leader rushed to assist, but it was clear the first demon was still alive, though wounded.

Broken continued to fire a series of arrows from behind the cover of the trees. The two demon leaders quickly pinpointed his location, their anger intensifying as they realized where the attacks were coming from.

They began deflecting his arrows with their swords, then charged directly toward him, intent on closing the distance.

Alright, it was time for direct combat. Broken quickly switched to his Invincible Paragon set and summoned his Bedrock Breaker Pickaxe.

He stepped out from behind the trees, facing the two enraged demon leaders.

"Damn you, bastard! I'll kill you, you fool!"

"This fucking thief, you should know your place!" they raged.

Broken dashed forward and slammed the pickaxe into the ground.

[Quake Strike (Active Skill) Lv. 1]

The ground erupted beneath the demons, stunning both of them. Seizing the opportunity,

Broken dashed even closer.

[Terra Fury (Active Skill)]

He brought the pickaxe down on the demon who had already suffered the defense debuff, and it felt as if the very air around them cracked. The impact sent both demons flying back. Without missing a beat, Broken switched to his Wavebreaker Spear and activated the Flowing Tide Cape. He summoned a water domain, and the water surged forward, forming a dome that trapped the two demons inside.

He relentlessly attacked the two demons with his spear. Though they tried to fight back, they were no match for Broken, who seemed untouchable thanks to the protective skills from his Invincible Paragon set.

The fight didn't last long, and soon, he had taken down both demon leaders with ease.

Phew... not bad for some late-night practice, he thought.

He found several keys and quickly used them to unlock the carriages, each containing iron cages where the slaves were held. There were four carriages in total, and the first one he opened housed the forest elf. She was sitting quietly, her head bowed inside the cage. Broken approached the cage and peered at the elf, who seemed to be sleeping. He glanced at the other cages in the carriage and found there were two prisoners: the forest elf and a beast-

kin.

But before Broken could react, something happened in an instant-the elf shot forward and thrust a dagger toward his neck.
